Nicolas Dominguez was heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in the summer, but the Argentine midfielder ended up joining Nottingham Forest instead. In a recent interview, he confirmed the Rossoneri’s interest.
Milan closely monitored the situation of Dominguez in the summer as Rade Krunic was linked with a move to Fenerbahce. The Rossoneri saw the 25-year-old as a good replacement for the Bosnian, but the latter ended up staying.
Speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, Dominguez was asked about the Milan links in the summer. He confirmed the Rossoneri’s interest and also revealed that he waited for them before joining the English side.
“Milan’s interest in the summer? Yes, there was talk about it and I read a bit about it. I also waited for the Rossoneri but nothing… I’m happy with the choice to come here. Life here is a bit different compared to Italy, but both my family and I are very happy here.
“If I have to be honest, I don’t miss Italy that much. We Argentinians are used to many cultures… Having said that, I thought, however, that adapting to this football was more difficult.”
Krunic has been an important player for Milan this season and it ended well for all parties. However, given his age, there’s no doubt that Dominguez would have been a good player for the future. This season, he has made three appearances for the English side.
A 25 year old for the future? WTF?
