Angel City FC have announced the transfer of Jamaican international Allyson Swaby to AC Milan on a permanent deal.
The Los Angeles-based club announced that the defender had been transferred to the Rossonere for an ‘agreed upon fee’ but did not disclose the specifics of the deal.
“Allyson will always be a part of our club’s history and we look forward to seeing her next chapter with AC Milan,” said Angel City FC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano.
“We are happy we were able to get this deal in place after her tremendous performance on the world stage of football with Team Jamaica, appearing in her second World Cup. We truly wish her nothing but the best.”
Swaby originally transferred to Angel City from AS Roma in 2021. However, the defender did not feature much for the NWSL team during her time there. The reasons why are not known.
Angel City’s loss is Milan’s gain, however. As was noted before, Swaby previously played for Roma. She made a total of 57 appearances for the team and helped them win the Coppa Italia in 2021.
That final was played between Roma and Milan and Swaby has now traded the red and yellow of the Lupacchiotte for the red and black of Milan.
Swaby was also one of the standouts of the current Women’s World Cup, as the defender captained her team, Jamaica, to some pretty memorable performances.
Those matches included playing powerhouse France to a nil-nil draw during their tournament opener and also playing the world’s eighth-ranked team, Brazil, to a stalemate.
Those two draws, along with defeating Panama 1-0 in the group stages, were enough for the Reggae Girlz to qualify for the Round of 16. The team ultimately fell to Colombia, but managed to win people over with their spirited and tactically astute performances.

Now, the move has been made official. The Rossonere and the rest of Serie A Femminile are still on hiatus due to the current Women’s World Cup.
The FIGC will publish the league’s calendar on August 16th and the first match of the season will be played a month later, on September 17th.
Once league play starts, the Rossonere will look to make another push for both the Champions League and a domestic trophy, and they’ll do so with the strength of Allyson Swaby on their side.
