AC Milan are seemingly in the market for a defensive midfielder and one player that they have been linked with recently is Lecce’s Morten Hjulmand. A perfect addition for the Rossoneri, as Franco Ordine argues.
The pre-season friendlies in the United States highlighted Milan’s lack of a defensive midfielder, with Rade Krunic taking on the role as the deep-lying midfielder. A solution that won’t be enough, as Franco Ordine explains.
In his latest editorial for MilanNews, the Milan pundit stated that Morten Hjulmand – who has been linked with the Rossoneri – is ‘what it takes’ to fill the midfield hole. Furthermore, he would find a compatriot in Simon Kjaer in the squad to help him speed up the acclimatisation process, as Ordine concludes.
A lot depends on the possible transfer of Krunic to Fenerbahce, of course, but some would argue that Milan need a defensive midfielder anyway. Stefano Pioli will likely try Yunus Musah in that role once training is back underway on Sunday.
I think these writers are agents of these players because I don’t understand how we need more additions we have players than can do the job. We practically have 2 players per position and in some 3

Depth. if you count Musah, who else could play that role? We need more than one midfielder there. And Bennacer is out long term.
Krunic? That’s two per position. That’s 23 players in the squad (2x per position plus 3rd GK). So someone has to leave before another DM or “6” is brought in.
Krunic can’t string even two passes together and he’s about ready to leave. We don’t have any natural 6s in the team, with perhaps consideration of Musah.
Yes most likely he will be played in the 6 position but I don’t trust Pioli, knowing him and his questionable love for Krunic that’s why I want yet another 6 because as soon as Krunic becomes a protagonist to this team is when we can start to get worried
Your argument is contradictory. If the issue is Pioli playing Krunic over other options because he’s a favorite, unless it’s another Pioli favorite like Bennacer, then what’s the point of bringing in another player as long as Krunic remains on the team? If Dominguez or Hjulmand arrive without Krunic leaving, what guarantees that Pioli won’t start Krunic anyway? They only way Krunic goes to the bench is if the new DM is waaay better, and I’m not sure any of the players we’ve been linked with would qualify as such in Pioli’s eyes.
Dominguez makes Krunic look like dog food. For the 6 role you have to be press resistant and have a solid passing range including accuracy while Krunic has none of those. Krunic is a bench player to fill in the gaps where we don’t have quality and that’s exactly why we need quality
I’m not arguing that. I’m saying that Pioli obviously fancies certain players. Let’s call them “Pioli Players”. If the choice is between a Pioli Player and another who may be better, Pioli will most likely choose the Pioli Player because he thinks that player will execute his game plan to Pioli’s satisfaction. So what I’m saying is that I’m not confident that Dominguez or Hjulmand will be so much obviously better in Pioli’s eyes if Krunic is still around.

Also it really isn’t contradictory as Musah is 20 years of age and isn’t a full guarantee that’s why I want a 6 so god forbid Musah is not good we won’t have to resort to Krunic but a natural 6

the players brought in by milan are all good on the offensive side, but not good enough to defend especially when they lose the ball, there are no midfield players who quickly recover the ball. I miss Kessie and Gattuso too

Krunic is mediocre. If you want to keep him over this player lmaoooo just because Krunic is here is nonsensical.
Admittedly I haven’t seen enough Lecce games (except from when we played them) to have an opinion but I don’t recall him standing out from what I can remember. He’s probably better than Pobega.

Maybe they will and maybe they won’t, but regardless which striker you wish we’d signed I don’t think adding another striker is top of the list at the moment. We’ve already spent 110m or whatever, and have brought in 8-9 new players, including Okafor who is being considered a striker. Then there is Colombo, so we have our three deep set for the season in Giroud, Okafor and Colombo. Additionally, I’m sure Veliz was already on the list and scouted when they decided to go for Okafor who at 12m was not that far off in valuation. The implication here is that they probably saw his ability to play all across the front line as a versatility they would rather have. Point is, they chose Okafor over Veliz, they didn’t “miss out”.
Giroud is 37 years old. Okafor was brought in more as a winger. And Colombo… surely you won’t put everything on him to lead our attack?
Deep set? What happens if Giroud gets injured?
Let’s see what happens after Musah’s arrival. Plenty of time left in the summer. And more will happen by all indicators.

So our 3 mids are : Loftus-Cheeks (Box-to-box), Bennacer (Regista), Reijnders (Mezzala).
Backup 3 mids are : Pobega (Box-to-box), Adli/CDK (Regista), Musah (Mezzala). If Krunic really goes to Fenerbahce, if he isn’t so Krunic will be Bennacer’s backup.
