Pellegatti reveals latest on left-back situation including Miranda and ‘big bull’ Pellegrino

By Oliver Fisher -

Carlo Pellegatti believes that AC Milan could try and sign a new left-back in the January transfer window because the options currently available do not convince at present.

Milan decided to stick with internal solutions for the role of deputising Theo Hernandez, something that they were largely forced to do by virtue of the fact Fode Ballo-Toure’s exit was not made official until very late on deadline day.

Alessandro Florenzi can shift over to the left side if needed – as Pierre Kalulu and Davide Calabria have in the past – while Davide Bartesaghi from the Primavera was trusted in preseason and Platense’s president claimed summer signing Marco Pellegrino can play there too.

Pellegatti spoke during an interview with Radio Rossonera and he was asked about the deputy left-back issue that Stefano Pioli faces, revealing what the first impressions of Pellegrino are.

“I honestly don’t know who it could be today. As a rule, Florenzi or Calabria. Pellegrino I don’t have the faintest idea if he can do it, I think he’s a nice central defender, one of those big bulls like Samuel or Cordoba, I don’t see him there,” he said.

“Bartesaghi doesn’t seem mature enough to play there yet. We need to see if Milan will try to bring in Juan Miranda, a player with Theo Hernandez’s characteristics, in January.

“His contract expires in 2024 and maybe they’ll give it to you in the winter. It may be worth considering for that role, a luxury alternative. The cost is around 7-10 million, but his deal is expiring…”

  1. This is the reason we don’t have much academic players play senior team , The EPL and Liga play and trust 18, 19, 20 If you don’t give them a chance and trust how to they grow ?at least 4 players from academic should be in the senior team every season cause what point does the so called experience one proof ? They are still coached so coach academy players
