Since joining AC Milan, Marco Pellegrino largely struggled for game time. Whilst this was largely due to injury, it was decided a loan spell would be best to allow him to acclimatise to Serie A football whilst earning consistent first-team minutes.
Since joining Milan from Platense, it is fair to say the Argentine hasn’t had the smoothest settling period. It was not imagined that he would immediately become a first-team regular by any stretch of the imagination. However, due to injury, his playing time has been minimised.
The defender fell victim to the injury curse, which has plagued the Rossoneri this season and spent 15 games sidelined with an ankle injury. As a result, it was decided the best current move for him was to leave the club on loan to join Salernitana to earn consistent minutes in Serie A.
He is still extremely well thought of around Milanello and beyond, though, with Lionel Scaloni previously offering him a call-up to the Argentine National Team, hopes are high for his future.
Pellegrino spoke to Salernitana’s official channels, and his words have been relayed by RadioRossonera.
How do you feel after arriving?
“I’m very happy to be here. The city is very beautiful and I can’t wait to train with my teammates. I’ve seen many games, including the last one against Roma, where the team played very well.”
The league table situation…
“Salernitana is a very strong team, which has to start getting results and improve.”
What kind of player are you?
‘I’m a quick and aggressive central defender,” he said.
“I can also play wide and I’m good with both a 4 and 3-man defence. Our goal is to reach safety in order to stay in Serie A. I feel charged up and I’ll give everything to help the team.”
