AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega had labelled the victory against Fiorentina as ‘fundamental’ after the poor run of form that the Rossoneri have been on.
The Italian midfielder spoke to Milan TV (via Milan News) after the 1-0 victory on Saturday night and stressed the importance of getting the three points after Milan had failed to win their last four Serie A matches.
“We knew it was a tough game, we prepared for the match well, we suffered, attacked and defended when necessary,” Pobega said.
He was asked about how the international break went for the side and Pobega said it was important to take that opportunity to see what had been going wrong in the league.
“It was a break before which we did not play well, we took advantage of it to see where we went wrong,” he said.
It was a historic night at San Siro because Francesco Camarda made his debut from the bench, becoming the youngest-ever Serie A player at just 15 years old.
Talking about the youngsters, Pobega said: “It was nice during the week when he joined us, it was a good moment that he’ll remember and I hope it’s the first of many because he deserves it.”
He also spoke to DAZN after the match (via Milan News) and was asked about his own growth as a footballer at Milan over the years.
“I think I’m a guy willing to improve and put myself on the line, looking for the areas where I struggle the most. I work a lot with the staff, in terms of data and videos, where I can improve. I think it’s a long and continuous path. It’s normal that as soon as I get a chance to go out on the pitch I try to give the best I can to contribute to the result,” he said.
He was asked about Camarda again and said: “When a boy from the youth sector arrives it’s a satisfaction for all coaches. It’s a pleasure, I hope it’s just the first of many appearances. He’s a good boy, determined, who has his goals set. I think he’s a boy who can improve a lot and will put himself on the line to improve a lot.”
Well done today Tommaso. Very well played. A lot of intercepts, few of them critical. With Fernandez completely out of form if not for your covering we would be loosing today from that flank. Few critical blocks and clarences and even a header. Thank you!
Slowbega did wayyyy better today than he’s been given credit for. Man was breaking up plays and pushing on offense
I underestimated him before today( I think we all did), but he played well.
Yes I agree pobega ,,played the best I have seen him play ,,,he worked hard and his physical presence was a plus ….that said we were lucky to win this game ..
The first half I thought we did reasonably well and did create chances ,but second half we made so many mistakes defensively and looked fatigued. I don’t think pulisic is match fit ,but he did well in the first half ,,sure he will be back against Dortmund..
But I am still optimistic,,,with Olivier Giroud back we can beat them ..
