Serie A Femminile will resume this weekend after the two-week international break. AC Milan Women will play Napoli this Sunday and the match will take place at 12:30 CEST (3:30 am PST/6:30 am EST).
Here’s a brief overview of what you need to know about the match…
➤ This is the second time the two teams have played each other in Serie A Femminile. The first game was a wild affair that ended 1-2 in favour of the Rossonere.
➤ One of the most controversial moments of that match is when Francesca Vitale was sent off for what was deemed a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity. In reality, she was sent off after Eleonora Goldoni clumsily tripped over herself in the box. Napoli was also awarded a penalty kick afterwards and though they were able to halve the deficit, they still lost the match.
➤ Speaking of which, Vitale recently did an interview with Milan TV where she spoke about the upcoming match. In particular, she stated that: “Napoli need to avoid relegation. In recent weeks, they’ve picked up some good results, winning and drawing their games. Their form has been improving and they’ll be coming to Milan to pick up points and play well but we have to be stronger and be even better. Our fate is in our own hands, it all depends on how we do.”
➤ Napoli CF’s best player is Sarah Hutchet, who has scored four goals for the team. The previously mentioned Goldoni is their Golden Girl and most popular player. She has scored a total of two goals for the team. Goldoni is also an Interista and played for Inter before moving to Napoli. Expect her to bring that rivalry into this match.
➤ Napoli is currently ranked 10th in the league and is hovering above relegation. Milan are still in second and will need to win every game to qualify for their main objective, which is to play in next season’s Champions League.
➤ Milan will most likely line up in a 3-5-2 while Napoli will field a 4-3-3. Both teams will deploy their strongest line-ups.
You’ll be able to watch the match live on the AC Milan app, Milan TV, TimVision and Milan’s Dailymotion page.
