AC Milan’s desire to be in a new stadium as soon as possible is making headlines again and this time it is because the La Maura area could be the space of choice for the Rossoneri, a report claims.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the idea of building a new San Siro with Inter seems very far away now as planning and discussions are taking so long. There is also confusion around Suning’s ownership of Inter which seems precarious.
That is why Milan are considering building a stadium of their own. One possible area is La Maura, a private piece of land that belongs to Snaitech. That is a pro because it means Milan are dealing with a private company rather than the local government.
Another pro is that it is well-served by public transport but that major con is that the green area is part of the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano which means there could be a lot of environmental backlash.
From what I read Inter already signed with the owners of the property where they will build the stadium in Assago and the together stadium is 100% of. If all is true and Milan will build in La Maura that is the superior location by everything…
An earlier article on this very site quoting the current owners of La Maura seems to imply that they were not keen on selling and that they have and will continue to invest in horse racing there. Then this article mentions something about environmental impact. So more hurdles, and that’s what we’re trying to avoid. I’m betting it will be the Sesto San Giovanni site in the end.
I agree with you. I would be surprised if they don’t end up in Sesto. That is the path of least resistance with the fewest obstacles. The land is available, support of the local government and will be well-deserved by public transportation.
