QSVS: The three head coaches Ibrahimovic has in mind for Milan’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to have a say in the future of the head coach at AC Milan and he already has three names in mind for when the time comes to move on from Stefano Pioli.

During a statement yesterday it was confirmed that Ibrahimovic has taken on a new role as an advisor at Milan, and numerous sources are claiming that he will have a say in the management and the area of transfers.

According to what is being reported by QSVS (via PianetaMilan), there are three head coaches the Swede likes to potentially replace Pioli, with whom he has a good relationship but the crises in results in injuries cannot be ignored.

In position number three we find Raffaele Palladino, currently the coach of Monza. The two met in their careers in 2004 , when Ibrahimovic arrived in Italy for the first time to wear the shirt of Fabio Capello’s Juventus.

Palladino, however, left the Primavera of Juve to go on loan to Salernitana but it is undeniable that Monza have played excellent football since being promoted to Serie A and that he follows the kind of mould RedBird like.

In position number two on the list is Antonio Conte, with only Milan and Roma in the running for the Salento coach. Napoli have other plans (Francesco Farioli) for 2024, as do Juventus (Massimiliano Allegri will be kept). The Ibra and Conte pairing could lead Milan to take an important mental step in terms of leadership and winning mentality.

QSVS add that Ibrahimovic’s favourite coach for the future of Milan is Thiago Motta who is doing excellent things at Bologna but could take the step to a bigger club from June. Ibra played with him in France at PSG for four seasons (2012-2016), so there is a friendship and respect between the two.

Zlatan greatly appreciates Motta’s football and he could be the most suitable person to take the Rossoneri forward, even in spite of his past at Inter.

  1. Unless Milan plan to invest more money into the transfer market I don’t see Conte arriving even though he is a favorite for Cardinale.

Conte is possibly the best option but I’m not a fan of him. But Milan do need a big coach to push management to sign better players and push the team to win titles.

So of all the coaches linked to Milan only Conte seems like the best option even ahead of Sarri.

Milan will have to sign Lukaku for sure if Conte arrives.

      1. Will he get them at Roma? I guess they’re almost already set up for him because Mourinho plays a similar style of football, but Conte isn’t going to be getting any big time signings there.

        1. Roma that signed Lukaku and Dybala? One might be a loan but I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Those are exactly the players that Conte wants and it seems Roma is willing to sign players the coach wants.

    1. Also, and I’ve had to repeat this many times, how will any coach who uses 3-5-2 and has been linked to us (Conte, Palladino, Xabi Alonso) use our current set of players? We just had a 130m summer where players were brought in who fit into a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system. For a 3-5-2/5-3-2 system, we’d have to get rid of Leao, Chukwueze, Calabria, possibly even Pulisic (although he might be able to fit the role of second striker a la Dybala), while bringing in a real right wingback, a new striker (but who we need anyway), a real second striker, at least one defensive midfielder, and at least two more centerbacks. That’s four departures, of which two are currently our top players, and SIX additions. It will be another summer spend of ~150m just to get the squad situated for a manager, and if it’s Conte the requested players might be even more expensive. It shouldn’t happen. We need a manager that plays 4-3-3/4-2-3-1.

      1. untrue. Conte did 343 at čelsi and we do have players for that.. If or When the cbs are back we can play 343 easy. Tho, Conte started 352 at juve becasue that was the best option for the players he had. I can see him doing 433, he does adapt to his players somewhat

      2. This is very true and overlooked by most. If we get Conte we are looking at 3 at the back Claris and Theo as WBs three in midfield and two strikers…you aren’t getting Rafa in their effectively or Pulisic. Our standout players in attack.

It is probably impossible yet we should do EVERYTHING to get Carlo back. He’s perfect for us in every way

We need a respected experienced coach who can get the best of these players

  2. Thiago Motta should be the guy.
Conte is someone who owners and players can’t put up for more than 2 years.
His constant crying and complaining in the media and yelling from the sidelines for the entire 90-100 minutes gets old after a season or 2.
That’s why he has stayed at a club for more than 2 years only at Juve, where he quit a couple of weeks into pre season.
    2 years for Italian NT.
2 years at Chelsea, fired a week into pre season.
2 years at inter, and he was close to quitting after the 1st season.
2 years at Tottenham and quit on them in April with 2 months left in the season, and Tottenham still very much in the play for top 4.
He is an unstable person, who you cannot build a project around. He is a quitter and a whinner.

    1. 100%. Notice he’s not being linked with any other clubs besides us and Roma. If he’s such a great coach, as some here claim, why isn’t he being linked with Real Madrid who will be losing Ancelotti to Brazil, for example? Oh wait, it’s because Madrid already had an experience with a hubristic man child and don’t want to repeat the mistake.

  3. The best Coach would be Seedorf, he is experienced, charming, intelligent, confident , humble, he knows the club, Italian football and has been learned from the very best, Van Gal, Hiddinck, Advocaat , Lippi, Cuper, Tardelli, Ancelotti, Eriksson,Capello,Leonardo ,Allegri, Toshack, Heynekes, Oswaldo de Oliveira, Eduardo Hungaro.
He would bring all this knowledge and intelligence, and above all he will give confidence to the youth, and he has won practically everything in club football…

  4. Conte should never coach milan and i’ll question anyone who brings him to the club, zlatan included.
Not only is he a huge crybaby who will run away when he doesn’t get the toys he wants and therefore becomes a potential liability at every club he coaches,
It would also mean that some of our biggest names woud get sold as they wouldnt fit his tactics.
I can live with the other two suggested though but Conte is no solution as i see it-

    1. I think Palladino would be similar with regards to personnel changes. I think he’s one of the next group of up and coming coaches, but he also plays 3-5-2, and will require the same big changes that Conte would, albeit perhaps not demanding the most expensive ones. Any coach using 3-5-2 should be ruled out, IMHO.

  5. Lol as I said …..any decision would be labelled as Ibra’s (frankly I’m surprised he even took this vague role). You guys don’t think Foolani and Clowndinale don’t know how to weasel their way out of their own decisions? Happened last year, it’s gonna happen in the summer. This time they can say Ibra did it

  6. What a ridiculous, completely made up story. You think Ibra is really talking about his choice for the next coach while Pioli is still the manager? Of course not. This is all fantasy speculation. Why would you even print this nonsense? DO better please.

  7. Zlatan’s role makes me nervous. We’re hyped about his effect on the players and mentality. Sure, makes sense. But his other duties?

He’s hired as a senior advisor placed above the coach and laterally (or above even) Furlani? Ibra has zero experience in this capacity and I’m afraid has a huge learning curve ahead of him. AND, he doesn’t hold back. He’ll tell you off…

Would any new incoming coach be comfortable with Ibra’s looming presence? Is he supposed to advise or criticize coaching decisions? Transfers? How do him and Furlani line up? How does he influence scouting and Moncada’s work?

    So. Many. Questions…

    1. Indeed. It seems as though Redbird has realized that they need a Maldini figure but without the power Maldini had. They want someone who has a winning mentality, but now explicit authority to make decisions. This way they can maintain control while also having someone to put out there as the “face” of the club. Knowing Ibra, he wouldn’t have come just to be a posterchild, which makes me think that at some point we’ll have the same result as Maldini. That is, he’ll want to go one way and they’ll say no, and then there will be a blow up and he will walk or they will fire him.

  8. Who’s writing this dumb story? Milan is in crisis mode, not because the coach is not good, but, because of all the things happening – so many new players, that still need time to blend, and, so many injuries. The coach may not be the best tactically, but, has done very well in the past four years. I have been left disappointed with so many results, but, have also seen the team play very good football at the start of the season. I don’t want to see Milan become another Chelsea, or Manchester United. The team certainly needs encouragement and motivation at this time, and I believe that was part of the reason Ibra was quickly brought in, even though his coming had been talked about for some time, rather than to advise the management on getting a new coach. The best of the names mentioned is Conte, but, that, is certainly not the kind of character Milan needs right now.

  9. Are these truly zlatan’s commendations, or is he just been used as a front by the gerry and his boys to sell their desires to fans.

Because Conte really. Cheap Milan would agree to bring a coach whose m.o includes spending big on players.

The laughs just keep rolling by.

  10. Hansi Flick
or Graham Potter are my picks,
but if I had to choose between investing into a quality coach, or a couple of quality players, I’d choose the later in a heartbeat!

TL;DR -> Invest Money for 2 Top players not 10 mediocre ffs, but alas “the algorithm” is set for profit, not trophies…

  11. In my opinion only dezerbi or matta are best option for now and for d future, they have fresh ideas and play modern football with no fear, our players only need confidence n motivated coaches
