AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has attempted to assess the Rossoneri’s disappointing Champions League defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
Speaking to Sky Sport 24 (via Milan News), the Dutch midfielder expressed regret that despite showing lots of energy and willing, their chances of getting into the knockout stages are not in their own hands.
The Rossoneri were beaten 3-1 and they now need to beat Newcastle away from home on the final day and hope that Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain. Only then will Milan go through.
“We showed a lot of energy and tried to win and it’s a big shame that we lost. Now everything isn’t in our hands for qualification. It’s a difficult situation we find ourselves in now, we must react as quickly as possible: the only remedy is to win,” Reijnders said.
Reijnders was asked about how Milan approached the game against Dortmund from a mental perspective and Reijnders stressed that the team felt positive.
“The mentality was positive, we showed energy and we had many opportunities but we couldn’t score more than one goal,” he said.
As mentioned, everything is against Milan now when it comes to getting into the round of 16 and Reijnders is very aware of that: “It’s difficult but we’ll try. We have to beat them and see the result on the other pitch, but we have to believe in it because it’s possible.”
The other game in Group F ended 1-1 between PSG and Newcastle which made things even harder for Milan, but the positive is that PSG didn’t win.
I’ll tell you this. Krunic sucks as a cb. Very very much. We been playing with only 2 healthy cbs for over a month and lord pioli still hasn’t worked up a 3rd option? The fúck does he get paid millions for?
Pioli doesn’t need to “work up a 3rd option” as he already knew Krunic can do everything. Need a striker? Krunic can do it. Need a GK? Krunic! Need someone to replace Messi? KRUNIC to the rescue!
That’s a lot of pressure. No wonder he wants to leave
Well… I think it’s more like “If I can replace Messi, then why am I not getting paid like Messi?”-kind of thinking by him. Krunic doesn’t feel pressure because he knows he can do anything. 🙂
Showed energy? LOL. When has that been enough? They also need attitude and determination. And team play. Use your strengths. Look any other team play and see how they work as a team. Milan doesn’t. Leaders don’t step up either.
