AC Milan are confident that they will complete the sale of Ante Rebic by the end of the week as talks are intensifying with Besiktas, it is claimed.
Rebic has been linked with an exit over the last few weeks given that is has become obvious he is no longer deemed a part of Stefano Pioli’s plans for the 2023-24 season and beyond.
This was demonstrated by the fact that the Croatian was not named in the squad for the preseason tour of the United States, instead remaining in Italy to prepare for the new campaign while awaiting news on his future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Besiktas and Milan are confident that they will get the Rebić deal closed and sealed by the end of the week as negotiations are advancing between the parties involved.
Meanwhile, TRT Spor in Turkey are reporting that Beşiktaş will pay €500k to the Rossoneri for the former Eintracht Frankfurt man, with €1m in potential bonuses. The 29-year-old is expected to travel to Istanbul over the weekend.
Musah ⏳
Wtf.. it’s like he left for free. I thought he could have at least generate 4 or 5 mil.
I know! I think they’re more concerned with freeing up the funds from his wages at this point.
It makes sense tho a 4.5M wage is hefty
It’s amazing that a player who has performed so poorly over the last two seasons and is almost 30 would still command anything close to that salary. It shows the fvcked up state of football (if Saudi Arabia hadn’t made that clear). 20 years ago, players over 30 who were beginning to fade moved to smaller teams and received smaller salaries. Today they move to smaller teams in places like Saudi, Turkey and MLS and get the same or larger salaries.
Thats because his wage is too high for his quality, so better to get 500k+1M and free from his salary rather than paid his salary for nothing and let him leave for free in the end like Samu
I mean he’ll just turn 30 this year and might still relaunch his career and have 2 or 3 good years left in him. Yes he has dropped form in the last 2 seasons but before he was actually decent. Apart from his attitude problem, in his days he has quick feet, nice touches and finishes well. In the end I could only wish him good luck since he more or less has helped the team.
Thats like
6.5m discount on rebic
Goddamnnnnn 92% drop
Better than keep paying his salary and he leave for free in the end of his contract
Rebic is nowhere near that amount, 4m at most considering his poor performances and injuries. Not to mention he’s on the other side of 30 now.
1.5m for Rebic????!!🙆 Perhaps, the salary tells on this deal as I don’t think he’ll take a pay cut from Besiktas and Milan just cleared his salary off their books
As long as there’s no loss on the books and opens up a space for another acquisition, In bocca al lupo e arrivederci Rebić.
Ok we still have few players to go
If Maldini sold for 1.5 then he doesn’t know how to sell but the new guys sell for that and it’s good that they’re getting his wage bill off. Mind you, this comment is to stir up the battle between the maldinists and the murican faithful not for anything else. I look forward to the fight. 🙂
No. Maldini wasn’t even able to sell for that. We lost Hakan, Gigio and Kessie for free. Consider the capital gains we could have got. And yes, this management was able to sell. They sold Tonali for 70+10. Was Maldini able to do thar? We could have got that from Gigio…
Nope.
Maldini signed some nice players but wasn’t able to sell at all.
His career is ruined after these last two years. Noone wants him. And he has to go to turkey almost for free to get any interest at all… Must be a bit depressing for him. But hey. At least he gets lots of money to almost do nothing on the field…
Thank you Ante..
He might be quite bad the last two season, but admittedly he was one of those who helped Milan resurrect.
Indeed. The two bad seasons don’t nullify the great first 2 seasons in Milan. He had a positive effect on the team/club.
To everyone reacting to the low price: Milan is giving a big discount so that Besiktas can use the money they would had spend on the transfer fee to give him his rather high salary the coming 2-3 years. Milan simply need to offload him and get him off the wage bill. Thats the reason. Its better to sell him for 1.5 million and save his 3.5 mil a year wage then have him sit on the bench not playing for 3.5 mil a year…sadly noone else wants to buy him and pay him that salary…
Not weak end he is to Istanbul tonight or tomorow.
Good and Gunius deal for us
His savings will be used Yunus Musah who is coming to milan on Monday.
When you see all the calculations, connections and chemistry that the new management is doing to get rid of harmful players, you realise what a mess Maldini created when he was in charge. Maldini still needs to learn for several more years and come back with the right experience and maturity to manage Milan, because we love him and we will love him in spite of everything. But not to the point of sacrificing our great Milan.
I am well aware that you not be convinced but OK, I will try.
The “mess” that Maldini left is the one funded 100% (so far) this mercato. He brought Tonali and more importantly he created an environment that allowed him to become a 70m player. Same with Leao, Theo, Bennacer Tomori, Mike.
And also, if there is any chance for this mercato to succeed (and not be like 2017) it is because of these solid foundations Maldini created and left.
Very good mercato so far but stop understanding the (incredible) work Maldini did.
1.5 million? Well. I was hoping for more too but then you realize we are also saving on his salary. Good luck, Rebic.
