Repubblica: Saelemaekers hoping for Bologna stay but renegotiation is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna intend to reopen negotiations with AC Milan before the expiration of Alexis Saelemaekers’ loan deal in order to try get a discount, a report claims.

The player himself admitted that Paolo Maldini’s exit as technical director seemed to change the plans for his future, something that was confirmed when Milan having signed three right wingers during the summer window in Luka Romero, Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze.

Saelemaekers ended up joining Bologna on what is an initial loan deal with an option to buy and while he is still looking for his first goal (but not his first red card), things are going positively under Thiago Motta.

According to this morning’s edition of the newspaper La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com), the terms of the deal were as follows: a €500k loan with an option to buy set at €10m.

Saelemaekers is described as being happy at Bologna and he wants to stay, but in order for that to become a realistic possibility the buy-out figure must be negotiated.

As we exclusively reported last week, Milan are interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and therefore it is not excluded that various names could be discussed in the next round of talks.

  1. Glad for him to be happy there but less than 10 mi isn’t really up for discussion as i see it but if we were to buy one of their players and keeps the valuation demands he could help lowering the fee. If that isn’t an option we should try and find a different buyer which should still be a possibility in various leagues as its not like he has a high salary to begin with at 1.2 mil per year.
