Arrigo Sacchi has advised AC Milan on how to stay close to Inter and Juventus in the race for the title as he gave his thoughts on each of the Scudetto candidates.
Milan gained three points on Napoli over the weekend, but in doing so they did not trim the gap to city rivals Inter as they emerged 3-0 winners at the Stadio Diego Armanda Maradona last night. Elsewhere, Juventus secured a 94th-minute winner against Monza on Friday night.
After 14 rounds of Serie A, Inter are alone at the top of the table, with a two-point advantage over Juventus and six points ahead of Stefano Pioli’s Milan. There are a lot of games to be played, but someone must stop the Nerazzurri and dent their confidence.
Sacchi commented on what could be a very important round in the scheme of the season, speaking about the favourite for the Scudetto to the advantage of Allegri’s side, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.
Inter: “My goodness, how much fun I had! Napoli-Inter, regardless of the result, was a match that reconciled the fans with football. Congratulations to all the performers, those who won and those who lost. I have no difficulty in saying that, if he plays like he did in Naples, Inter are the favourites for the Scudetto.
“However, if they interpret the games as they did in Turin against Juve, then everything can come back into question. Juve-Inter, in terms of entertainment, was a match that killed football; this Napoli-Inter, however, has ignited the enthusiasm.”
Napoli: “After the first half hour, I wrote in my notebook: Napoli is back. At that point no one would have imagined that the Nerazzurri would win so comprehensively. This is the reason why I maintain that Napoli must not be demoralised, but must insist on this path. Maybe correcting something in the defensive phase. Now Napoli are eleven points behind Inter, it’s true, but I saw a lively, willing, compact team.”
Juventus: “Juventus, who play football based on defensive attention and counter-attacks, are growing. Allegri’s men have an iron will and it was also seen in the last match against Monza. They never give up, and then they don’t have European commitments: a nice advantage.”
Milan: “They’re six points behind, it’s not a huge gap. The Rossoneri, however, must find a balance on the pitch, they must become a team. I believe that if they manage to make this leap in quality, then they will still be able to have their say.”
If all our squad are available no one can beat US❤️🖤
Sacchi probably forgot that we lost plenty of players since match 8 or 9. So the “they must become a team” is quite a difficult job for Pioli to established a team when he doesn’t have many players for weeks or even months.
Heck, right now Tomori is the only CB available (not counting the primavera) because Thiaw, Kalulu, Kjaer, and Pellegrino are out.
I just hope Kjaer already recovered for Atalanta because Tomori already looks burnout when he made that simple mistake against Frosinone.
Technically we’re still in for the title race (especially that we are pretty much out of the UCL, so we’ll have less games that inter). But are we really still in the title race ?
