Scaroni happy Milan are top of the table: “I want to win every match”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has admitted that it is nice to be at the top of the table, but what counts more is to be there come the end of the season.

Milan have won seven of their eight league games to begin the 2023-24 campaign with the only red mark on their record being a 5-1 defeat in the derby against Inter, who are currently in second place two points behind the Rossoneri.

That has led many to suggest that there could be another title fight between the two Milanese clubs as there was in 2020-21 and the season after that, with both sides aiming to be the first to get a 20th Scudetto and a second star.

Scaroni was present at a WEmbrace Sport charity event in support of art4sport – Bebe Vio’s non-profit association – last night, and he was interviewed by Sky Sport 24 with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“The event is so beautiful, it is so close to our hearts. We have been supporting him for three years now, we have seen him grow,” he said.

“It has become the symbol of the inclusive sport that lies in the missions of our Milan Foundation. Fondazione Milan and Bebe [Vio] are united by this effort to make sport a moment of inclusion.”

Could this positive energy from Bebe Vio be useful to some of your players? What can you convey to young footballers?

“Bebe Vio can convey anything, he is a force of nature. Look what he organised tonight. A force of nature like that could do anything, and will do it.”

Milan are top of the league…

“Actually we had already been high in the rankings in the past, I like to be high in the standings at the end of the season. What happens in the meantime, yes, gives me a certain pleasure but I like it better at the end.”

And are you ready for this (a title fight)?

“That’s what we want. I want to win every match.”
