Ahead of the clash between AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, Paolo Scaroni spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s situation. Among other things, he was asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose return appears to be imminent.
Tonight’s clash against Dortmund is very important for Milan, currently sitting in third place in the Champions League group. A win tonight would significantly improve their chances of qualifying, while a defeat would make it almost impossible.
Speaking to Mediaset ahead of the game, as cited by MilanNews, club president Scaroni shared his thoughts on various topics. In addition to the clash, he was asked about Ibrahimovic and the upcoming January mercato.
On the game…
“The important thing is to get into the Champions League, then the round of 16, etc. Milan must always be in the Champions League, this is our minimum objective. These matches give me anxiety. Actually all the matches, but this one in particular.”
On the stadium…
“Giving dates for these things is difficult in Italy. We think we can start construction next year so as to have the stadium for the 2028-2029 season.”
On Ibrahimovic…
“I think he’s coming tonight for the match, he’s sitting next to Cardinale with whom he has an excellent relationship. We’re all waiting to see what he wants to do, both within Milan and RedBird. He has already played a fundamental role as a motivator. I believe that Cardinale’s presence gives a contribution to understanding Ibrahimovic’s future at Milan.”
On the mercato…
“I can’t tell you anything specific, but I know that Furlani is attentive and focused for January. The financial sustainability that we have gained allows us to look at opportunities with a certain tranquillity.”
Yacine Adli will play from the first minute as Stefano Pioli has made some changes to the midfield. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also back from start and that is certainly a huge boost for Milan, considering how well he did against Paris Saint-Germain.
