It was a dream day for Jan-Carlo Simic, who not only came off the bench to help AC Milan keep a clean sheet against Monza but also scored the second of the three goals.
Milan clinched three important points after a very good performance against Monza at San Siro. Several players did well and the youngster Simic scored on his debut for the club, also earning one of our highest player ratings.
Four minutes before the break, Milan made it 2-0 and it was an unforgettable moment for Simic. Leao beat his man on the right side of the box and laid a perfect pass across the six-yard box where the teenage centre-back was on hand to fire into the roof of the net.
Simic spoke to DAZN at the end of the game to reflect on what was a very special afternoon for him, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
On the emotions of the goal and the debut: “Like a dream but I’m happy to have been able to help the team. Great debut and goal: all children dream of it. I’m happy for the team that we won and that I scored is even better.”
On making his first Serie A appearance: “My teammates, the coach and the staff helped me a lot. Already last week they told me to stay on track. I was working very hard and I’m happy to have made my debut at a club like Milan and scoring goals was even better. I keep working. I’m giving the shirt to my parents.”
On how he felt when coming on: “I was already ready all last week. The coach had warned me. When he called me I was ready and focused.”
On the five minutes after the goal: “I don’t know, I didn’t hear anything. Not even when the fans shouted my name. Immediately after the goal I was already inside the match, doing my part and not letting Monza score.”
On who he dedicates the goal to: “To my parents. They helped me a lot to always be focused and on track. Family is the most important thing for a player: they kept me awake. I saw how excited they were and I’m very grateful.”
On the advice of team-mates: “There is not only one, all have come to me. Oli, Simon, Florenzi. They told me don’t worry and we’ll help you. Even from outside the coach and the staff. Everyone helped me and not just one. I’m grateful. Now I have to bring the pastries for tomorrow.”
On his parents’ emotions: “I saw them, I expected it. It wasn’t easy for them to help me even in the most difficult moments, they always helped me stay focused and work hard. I’m very happy for them.”
On his role model: “Paolo Maldini was always my idol and it’s a dream to play here for Milan. I’ve been watching videos of him since I was little.”
Great debut from the youngster. He definitely have potential to play in the first team.
Funnily, i thought he’s Dario Simic son because he have the same last name lol.
No he is born in germany but apparently has chosen to represent serbia whereas dario is a croat so not related. Roko Simic is darios son though.
Yeah. i didn’t check Jan-Carlo background and keeps thinking “Isn’t he Dario Simic son who plays at Salzburg?”. But turns out he’s not Dario’s son. I made a mistake lol.
No worries, a lot of people do the same. I wouldn’t mind darios son around here as well at least he could be a potential next striker out of the austrian club even though he hasnt exactly hit the high notes in goals as of yet.
he’s AC Maldini, put price tag in his head, sell him asap! get MaGuire as replacement
What sort of brain dead comment is this.
What is wrong with some of you. Do you just think to yourself what would a dead logic person say, and then proceed to say whatever comes to mind??
How is he ac Maldini, if such a thing exists.
And how is selling a potential asset of the club helping. Especially in crisis as this??
haha.. u r so genius
Fantastic Start. Hopefully Pioli isn’t scared to use him more.
