Sky: Arsenal defender re-emerges as a possibility as Milan switch targets

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s January transfer plans might be about to come full circle as they are once again interested in signing Arsenal centre-back Jakub Kiwior, a report claims.

Milan have been linked with a number of different defensive targets to try and help the emergency which sees Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori sidelined for several more weeks yet.

Kiwior was mentioned as a concrete possibility before the January window opened but things went quiet, with Arsenal believed to be not too keen on the idea of letting him go out on loan.

The focus then switched to Alessandro Buongiorno but – as we outlined in our latest bulletin last night – the Torino defender seems to be off the table as well with Urbano Cairo not open to considering a sale.

Now, Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini (via PianetaMilan) has given an update on what Milan’s strategy post-Buongiorno will be and he brought back the name of Kiwior as a possibility.

“Going to get Buongiorno is fine, but only if Cairo were to lower his demands and evaluate Colombo highly. If this happened the Torino centre-back could become topical again in the next few days,” he said.

“If this could not happen between now and June, Milan could sign a player on loan with an option to buy which – if it were not too high – would mean they buy him if he were to do well.

“Otherwise he would be returned to his parent club at end of the season. An example could be Kiwior from Arsenal, who is very popular.”

  1. Oh come on. This guy hardly even plays. And I don’t want any Arsenal “defender”. Just stick to Pellegrino and stop messing around. And sign another midfielder instead.
