Following the Coppa Italia defeat against Atalanta, AC Milan fans expressed their disappointment with the result and the season in general by booing after the final whistle.
This season has worsened month by month for Milan, and now the club are at a junction. Inter lead Serie A by nine points, and whilst there have been improvements in the league recently, the Rossoneri require a miracle to win the Scudetto.
In the Champions League, they stumbled when it mattered and fell short of qualification into the knock-out stages due to goal difference. Finally, in the Coppa Italia, the controversial exit only added anger to an already disappointing season, which perhaps caused the boos.
A positive season now relies on miracles, and Pioli’s job, especially after the loss, is again under fire, and the San Siro has spoken. If there was a mountain to climb before, then its gradient has just increased substantially.
Peppe Di Stefano spoke on Sky Sport, and his words were relayed by Radio Rossonera.
“It had never happened in the Pioli era that in the middle of the season Milan were out in two competitions out of three. There was always a trace of Milan in the Champions League round of 16, in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, or the race for first place. This is virtually a race that will not see Milan as a protagonist.
“Only the Europa League remains, then, a difficult haul to achieve and one that is unlikely to bring a smile back to the Milan fans, who are explicitly unhappy with the season of Pioli’s boys,” he said.
“Yesterday was a sad game that ended with whistles. The performance of the last period is not one for booing, yet clearly there is something wrong, the non-reaction to Atalanta’s 2-1 goal in particular. Surely there will be an analysis [of Pioli and the squad] in the coming weeks and months.”
Predictable Media Storylines. LOL!!!
Pioli wins a couple “he has proven himself and is safe”
Pioli loses one “his job is not safe… has to prove himself again…”
Isn’t this getting old? Pioli is well within RedBird parameters. WHILE with massive absentees. While many users here will have you believe that we wont even finish within Europe spots. As if Pioli would do worse with the starters returning?? LMAO!!!
Let the man work in peace until the summer.
Pioli’s football is simply boring and not bringing positive results at the same time. I would not mind Milan playing boring football and winning. His stuff is boring and not working lol.
💯
Pioli has been tactically outsmarted on too many occasions, Atlanta and Gasperini were visibly shocked at how Milan relented and they won the tie.
Our midfield was non existent, the gap between attack and defence was the length of the pitch almost.
I like Pulisic and RLC, but they cant really be considered starters if your aiming to conquer Europe, they are great squad players.
The way forward now is big investment in defence (at least 2 very good CBs to replace Kjaar ), 2-3 midfielders (2 very good cdms and a number 10).
And the a real attacker, good finisher, i would go for Sesko every time).
All the above with a hard coach like Conte or even an inventive one such as DeZebri then we are moving forward
It may seem like pie in the sky to many, but it is the inly wa forward for us
Even before the serie a season started, i was saying that pioli is crap. Poor tactically, technically, offensively, defensively. Too slow, too clueless, too irrational, too confident in his own abilities which was never special.
Pioli had lost the dressing room since before the season started. The only persons qho tried to fight were the new comers because they didnt know pioli so well.
I was mocked as being too pessimistic when in fact i was being realistic.
Totally agree with you. Enough of Pioli@!!
Robias don’t be sooo hard on yourself. You think clearly and may understand what it takes to have a winning team in Italy and Europe.
I as well thought that when the owner reappointed Pioli as head coach Milan would not surpass Inter, Napoli, Juve, Roma and Atalanta!
In fact he has failed to bring fear to these clubs.
Pioli without Leao, Theo, Pulisic would be lingering in 7th spot.
The question know is does the owner Cardi have the balls to sack him before the season becomes a write off and bring in De Zerbi or Motta not Conte?
Maybe the Roma game will signal the owner to be active not reactive?
An entire article to explain that fans don’t like when their team loses. Seems like the interns are trying to make their article quota.
Now it’s clear that Pioli will stay till end of the season unless of really bad results.
Management is not convinced of the alternatives and it is understandable as none of the available alternatives has a better curriculum than Pioli except Conte.
I would have changed Pioli but getting a profile like Gaslner would be a big risk. Ac Milan is playing since 2 months with 3-4 defenders unavailable, at least. With Atalanta we missed Kalulu Tomori Thiaw Florenzi, a potential starting back 4 except Florenzi. It has become the norm, but it’s a crazy situation. It’s not a couple of games, it is going on for 2-3 months.
The curva sud chose to stay silent when M&M where fired. They chose to ignore the fact that the sucess of the past seasons were not all Pioli and his staff. A considerable part of it was also from the contributions of M&M.
Why do they complain now, when it’s too late?
Wie lange wollt ihr noch warten? Feuert Pioli!
