Davide Bartesaghi has made a few appearances off the bench for AC Milan this season, getting his debut against Hellas Verona. However, he could go out on loan in January, a report claims.
The youngster was added to the first-team squad as the Rossoneri failed to sign a new left-back deputy in the summer. He impressed during the pre-season and has been getting a few minutes since the start of the campaign.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, however, Milan are looking to make a move for Real Betis’s Juan Miranda in January (read about that here). As a result, the Rossoneri could send Bartesaghi out on loan for consistent playing time.
Of course, it all hinges on Gorgio Furlani getting the Miranda deal over the line, which is not a certainty. In any case, Bartesaghi has impressed the management and earlier this week, he bagged a nice assist for Italy’s U19 side.
No it can’t be possible he is a part of our team
Let’s be honest, if he was good for Serie A, Bartesaghi would be part of the U21 team instead of being part of U19. I’d be worried to see him start a game even against relegation teams.
I think management spent too much time following Calafiori without being very convinced of moving it forward and got overtaken by Bologna.
Let’s hope that Florenzi (and Giroud) can stay uninjured until January, otherwise we’d be in a challenging situation. Theo is likely to miss a few games during the season due to yellow cards or injuries
That’s not really a measure of anything.
If it was these U-whatever players who go on and win tournaments would one day find their way winning tournaments at senior level rather than working as a plumber having been loaned out to death.
Unless there’s something in the DNA (that changed suddenly circa 2006) it’s quite clear Italian football is doing an appalling job of developing youngsters given teams have a less than 1% conversion rate from youth star to first team back up player.
And it’s not just about the ‘cream’. They’re already the ‘cream’ by virtue of the fact that they made these youth teams. The issue is the ‘cream’ is being left out of the fridge too long.
Take this absolutely stupid decision to take an elite athlete and loan them to a new team midway through the season. I mean how is that a way to deal with the cream of the crop?
Imagine taking a school kid – even a top performing one – and pulling them out of school midway through their final year.
And that’s school where they can still have time to revise for a few months before the exam.
This is supposed to be top level football where a split second can make all the difference.
And we’ve seen countless times how this plays out – the loan club doesn’t give the player game time either because they’re not invested in the player and have the same attitude to giving youth a chance. Instead they sign him for ‘depth’ and to do a big club a ‘solid’.
The only player who has actually really made it is Calabria who never went out on loan!
