In an exclusive interview with SempreMilan, the well-known AC Milan journalist Carlo Pellegatti shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s many mercato pursuits, including both signings and exits.
A lot has certainly happened on the market for Milan in recent days and there is some uncertainty with regards to how the team will look next season. Therefore, it was the perfect opportunity to speak with the knowledgable Carlo Pellegatti.
On De Ketelaere…
“For De Ketelaere, Milan have made an offer, there is also competition from Leeds. With an offer of €30m for Brugge and the player’s will, it could easily be closed. It’s a profile that fits perfectly within the parameters of ownership: he’s young, talented and with a strong margin for growth.”
Could Dybala tactically be the right attacking midfielder for Pioli?
“For the assessments that Milan made, Dybala could play on the frontline. Obviously, I feel I can rule out the arrival of both De Ketelaere and Dybala. For what the owners have shown in recent years, it’s unlikely that they will aim for the purchase of both players.
How do you judge the signing of Messias?
“It’s not certain that Messias will remain at Milan. After the redemption, the Rossoneri could also sell him to obtain a small capital gain. We remember that Torino invested €20m in Verdi, there could be mid-table teams interested in signing Messias, perhaps on loan with an obligation to buy.”
So there is less space for Saelemaekers who could be sold?
“Messias doesn’t exclude Saelemaekes. Even with the arrival of another winger like Ziyech, the club could decide to keep all three. Saelemaekers is more defensive and is very useful, Messias and the possible new signing would be more offensive and therefore they can be interchanged when the match is in progress. Milan will think carefully before depriving themselves of Alexis.”
What profile would you recommend to Milan for centre-back position?
“For the defence, I would aim for a young player with great prospects. Milan have been linked with many names, but for now, the priority is the attacking trio.”
Latest from one of the best sources in Schira: “ACMilan hve reached an agreement in principle with Charles DeKeteleare’s agent (T. De Mul) for a contract until 2027 with a salary of €2,5M/year. Now #Rossoneri will work to try to close the deal with ClubBrugge. CDK prefers Milan’s bid to Leeds and Leicester.”
Of course CDK prefers Milan. Leeds and Leicester will never play in the Champions League again, in fact Leeds will probably get relegated. With us he will immediately play in the CL and fight for the Scudetto.
