AC Milan are interested in signing Riccardo Calafiori from Basel but they face competition from another team in Serie A, according to a report.
According to the latest from TMW, Milan would like to sign him from Basel on loan with an option to buy to occupy the role of deputy Theo Hernandez given Fode Ballo-Touré is heading for the exit door.
However, Genoa have now inserted themselves into the race for the former Roma man. The 21-year-old is willing to return to Italy, but the issue that the Rossoblu have is regarding the asking price.
Calafiori only moved a year ago from Roma – the club where he came through the academy – to the Swiss club, which means he has a contract until 2025 with an option for another season.
He made 13 Serie A appearances before leaving Roma, registering two assists for the Giallorossi, and now could be returning to the country of his birth.
