The idea of AC Milan and Inter building a new stadium together has not been completely rejected for now, with contacts having taken place between the two clubs.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Milan completed the purchase of the land in San Donato for €15m, but also had an inspection at San Siro with representatives of the construction giant WeBuild, reopening the possibility of restructuring San Siro.
In recent days there have also been talks with Inter, with whom the idea of collaborating to build the new stadium seemed to have evaporated after the initial plan launched back in 2019.
The Nerazzurri are thinking of Rozzano as the site to build their own stadium, but have not closed the idea of a partnership with the Rossoneri for the new facility.
The Inter management took their time explaining to their Milan colleagues that they must evaluate what president Steven Zhang wants to do, but Gerry Cardinale is in a hurry to get things moving.
During an interview given to Corriere della Sera yesterday, Cardinale made it clear how important building a new home will be.
“I am very satisfied with the progress we are making, definitely a lot in 18 months, to build the first new stadium in Italy since 2011, with 70,000 seats. Renovating San Siro? I don’t think so at this point, but each option deserves attention,” he said.
Milan needs it’s own stadium without Inter, a big club like Milan needs it’s own identity and culture separate from any other club, if Milan wants to match other European giants, then it needs to cut it’s umbilical cord from inter, Inter should not feel ashamed of it does not have the means to build a new stadium, it should stay and renovate the San Siro…
What? Do you mean that people confuse Milan and Inter because they play in the same stadium for decades? With a new stadium, a new team every year and ten different jerseys every season in every colour, we should be able to develop a strong identity. Forza brand!
The pitch would deteriorate faster like San Siro of inter joined. Lets not share home stadium.
