AC Milan managed to get all three points against Napoli last night at San Siro with Theo Hernandez getting the only goal in the first half of the game.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) has their ratings from the game, starting with Mike Maignan who got a 6 out of 10 because his first real save comes from a Di Lorenzo shot right at the end.
Davide Calabria got a 6 as he contained Kvaratskhelia while keeping watch on the flank before making way in the 37th minute due to injury. Alessandro Florenzi took his place and did well, getting a 6.5
Simon Kjaer struggled the most as he was ’embarrassed when targeted by Kvaratskhelia’, scoring a 5, then he was replaced by Jan-Carlo Simic who was given a 6 for entering with ‘personality’.
Matteo Gabbia was ‘fierce in one-on-one situations as well as in the anticipation in almost all areas of the pitch’ and then ‘every intervention was precious’, so he got a 7.
Theo Hernández got a 7.5 as a run in deep got him his fourth goal in the league, but he was careful in coverage even when a complicated player like Politano came on.
Yacine Adli was ‘good in marking, less so in support, with measurements and choices often wrong’ so he got a 5.5, while Ismael Bennacer got a 6 for a similarly mixed performance. He made way for Yunus Musah who got a 6 and should have had an assist for Rafael Leao.
Christian Pulisic was ‘essential in helping out on Kvaratskhelia’ but quiet in the attacking phase (6), while Ruben Loftus-Cheek made a ‘tired start’ before growing into the game, scoring the same.
Rafael Leao was ‘the most lively in the first half’ and got the assist for Theo, while he had the opportunity to seal the game to make it 2-0 in the second half but failed to, so he was awarded a 6.5.
Olivier Giroud started the move for the goal but that was to be his only real notable contribution and so he was given a 5.5.
Finally, head coach Stefano Pioli got a 6.5 after a ‘gritty match, won by taking advantage of one of the few opportunities created’. He also ‘responded carefully to Mazzarri’s moves, finishing with a five-man defence’.
