AC Milan Women star Kosovare Asllani scored the second goal for Sweden in their 2-0 win over Australia earlier today, securing a third-place finish at the World Cup.
Sweden and Asllani were beaten by Spain in the semi-finals and thus got to play the bronze clash against the hosts Australia earlier today. After taking the lead in the first half through Fridolina Rolfö, Asllani sealed the deal in the second half with a great finish.
It was Asllani’s first goal of the tournament, wearing the captain’s armband for Sweden, and afterwards she said the following (via Fotbollskanalen): “It means a lot, we have had a fantastic tournament and this is proof of that. We were just details from the final, but it’s nice to at least bring a medal back home.”
