All of sudden the possibility of taking second place has emerged for AC Milan, and a report has highlighted how there are financial motivations at play.
This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) previews tonight’s game between Monza and Milan, starting by pointing out that with a win the Rossoneri would overtake Juventus in the table and rise to second place.
Reaching the end of the season among the top two would allow Milan to participate in the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia next season, a competition that would also bring a few million into the accounts.
For tonight’s game at the U-Power Stadium, Stefano Pioli will do a bit of rotation compared to the last few games as Malick Thiaw will come in for Simon Kjaer, Luka Jovic for Olivier Giroud and Noah Okafor for Christian Pulisic.
There are also expected to be changes in the middle of the pitch where Yacine Adli and Ismael Bennacer will play as starters, taking the spots of Tijjani Reijnders and Yunus Musah.
It is therefore a big opportunity for Milan to take a step up in the table, and they face a Monza side who have had a very up and down campaign so far.
