The AC Milan management know that they will need to sign at least one striker in the coming months and they are evaluating various profiles, according to a report.
Olivier Giroud needs to manage his workload in order to remain decisive especially given he is 37, while Luka Jovic does not seem to be a capable deputy at the moment and Noah Okafor is not a traditional No.9, which is why the search has begun for a new striker.
According to what Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning, Jonathan David of Lille is a name near the top of the list and he could arrive for an affordable price given he has a contract which expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Santiago Gimenez is another name that Geoffrey Moncada likes a lot, and it is easy to see why given that he has 15 goals in 16 total games this season, but the paper adds that both seem to be more suitable solutions for a summer investment.
David would still cost around €30m and Gimenez would also require a significant outlay, especially if he were to continue with this level of performance. The Mexican’s contract expires in 2027, so in his case there will be no discounts and he is being followed by several clubs in Italy and around Europe.
The main candidate for the winter is Akor Adams of Montpellier, who has 7 goals in 11 games in Ligue 1. Montpellier paid €4.5m to sign him from Lillestroem in the summer but it is clear that his value has already risen and could rise even further.
If Milan want to make a move in January then at least €15m will be needed, but the real mission is convincing Montpellier to sell given they are in a relegation battle and losing their top scorer part way through the season would not help.
Why not Jimenez
Jimenez will cost around 80M, NOT WHAT WE CAN AFFORD.
We should look at other options and yes that does not include David.
Adams is nothing better than Jović,mark my words
“Jimenez will cost around 80M, NOT WHAT WE CAN AFFORD.”
Well… Let’s put it this way: We cannot afford to throw away 40M€ on David either. Gimenez for 80M€ is a faaaaar better and safer deal than getting any other rumored target for 20-50M€. Fact. Gimenez is the one.
Why not Dia from Salernitana? He has a 20M release clause since yesterday and he was great last season, keeping it up on an ok level this year with 4 goals in 9 games. In Serie A. 100% better than Adams.
Doesn’t matter who comes. They won’t be any better than jovic and lord Baldy wont bench giroud. Even next season if giroud stays and we cash out on someone (pls not david) it’s still gonna be giroud starting if lord baldy is at the helm
At 80m you get Oshimen 😁
and then he turns into Vlahović. I say if we can throw 80M around go for the Šeško
Jimenez, David, Akor….. Do we even know if these players can play as a lone striker?
