Roberto De Zerbi has impressed a lot at the helm of Brighton in the last few years, achieving great results with very little means. As a result, he has been linked with several clubs including AC Milan, and he has now confirmed his desire to coach in Italy.
De Zerbi has been the manager of Brighton since September 2022, replacing Graham Potter who joined Chelsea. After finishing sixth in his first season at the club, the 44-year-old has been heavily praised for his innovative style of play.
He uses a 4-2-3-1 formation and given that he also came through Milan’s youth ranks as a player, he has been linked with the Rossoneri for the post-Stefano Pioli era. In an interview with Sky UK, De Zerbi confirmed his desire to coach in Serie A one day and also spoke about Milan.
“I love my country, I love Italy, I love Italian football. I don’t know, for sure one of my targets is to go back to work in my country but I don’t know when the time will be.
“I feel very happy in the Premier League, and I have to say thanks to Brighton, the league, all the coaches and people. Living in the UK, the problem is not where you work but how you work, not the place.
“Draw Milan in the Europa League? For me, Milan isn’t a normal club, because as a player I was born at Milan. In my life, I’ll always be grateful to Milan. There are two or three Italian teams in the Europa League, we’ll see the draw,” he stated as transcribed by Football Italia.
An exit in the summer appears unlikely for De Zerbi, especially since Brighton probably will demand a lot of money (as they did when Potter left). Milan have a few other names on their list and Pioli’s future has not been fully defined yet, even if a farewell appears to be on the cards.

Yes and no, he played for our primavera, he spent 4 years under contract with Milan but where mostly out on loan and never played for the first team
Yes, he grew up in our youth teams, trained with the seniors like Boban, MALDINI nd many more bt he was loaned out and eventual sold.
He is what teams dream to have at their clubs
He is heart, mind and loyalty better than most for the club he leads.
DeZerbi is a good fit at Milan and lets honest he leads Brighton for the next 2 years to get him will be very expensive for Milan

He is the ideal replacement if we can afford it. So much better choice than Conte, who would take us nowhere and cost an arm and leg. We don’t need another defensive coach, we clearly have a team set up to attack, so de zerbi fits the best
Maybe its destiny to come and comolete your unfinished mission at Milan

I don’t think there is a better possible manager to take over from Pioli moving forward. He also has proven to be a match to phylosophy of our owner which is the same where he currently is. This guy even when he loses a gem its still joy to watch the way his teams play.
Combine that with his own unfinished business at Milan, we have a win win situation.
Cardinale! Pay him what he wants and lets move on. I will give you a hint, just look at Real and kearn from them. When they know they need something they PAY. Milan used to be the same.
You made the choice to buy Milan, now its your duty to elevate it where it belongs. Real is your clue, and dont worry you will make money

But first of all, can these journalist stop fuelling speculations and let our squad focus for the rest of the season? SMH.
In any case, it seems to me he would fit more with Barca than Milan. (There are already rumours he’s pouched to take over Xavi next season).
Milan is a lower version of Real Madrid, not barca/Mancity style. Ours is a mixture of teamwork, strategy and individual brilliance.
What we need is to upgrade our style of play. De Zerbi, seems to me a switch of playing style.
These are my 2 cents thoughts though.
