Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised the work of AC Milan and Stefano Pioli for discovering Charles De Ketelaere and taking the decision to loan him to La Dea.
Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport Italia (via Pianeta Milan), the coach was asked about the positive form of De Ketelaere, who is having a really good season on loan at Atalanta.
The Belgian scored during Atalanta’s 2-0 win over Udinese on Saturday. That goal took his Serie A tally for the season to three, and he has also got six assists to his name. He has scored two Europa League goals in four games, another two goals in the Coppa Italia and got a cup assist.
Considering just how much De Ketelaere struggled to make an impact at Milan when he signed from Club Brugge, it is very impressive that he has grasped the opportunity given to him at Atalanta.
La Dea have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season and they are expected to do so.
Gasperini certainly seems happy with the player and he praised Milan and Pioli for their work with him last season when he first moved to Italy.
“Milan deserves credit for having invested in him, then it’s not easy the first year for someone who comes from abroad and is so young. I also took advantage of the work of Milan and Pioli. We are satisfied and I think today he played the most important game since he has been here,” Gasperini said.

He did not score against Udinese on Saturday!

Yes, Milan has been fantastic in discovering and developing players for other teams to reap the benefits.
Can you give any examples to substantiate this?
CDK is not a world beater (not yet anyway), Brahim Diaz is bench material and only got his break due to a massive injury crisis, Tonali is banned – who am I missing? Çalhanoğlu?
Paqueta, Milan bought him for 35 millions, sold for 23 millions to Lyon who sold him to West Ham for 49 millions. City were offering over 80 millions for him in the summer before being investigated for betting scandal.
Locatelli was sold to Sassuolo for 14 millions and later bought by Jube for 35 millions.
Aubameyang…
Yes, we are looking for a tall, versatile forward that costs a minimum of 40 million euros, which we already bought and are selling for 27 million euros, who will be resold for 60 million
