Lille star David responds to ‘flattering’ links with Milan and Chelsea

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking to add a striker to the team in the summer and Jonathan David is one of their top targets. In a recent interview, the Lille star was asked about the links with the Rossoneri and admitted that the interest is ‘flattering’.

Olivier Giroud will turn 38 later this year and he could leave Milan in the summer, when his contract will expire. Therefore, the Rossoneri directors are expected to sign a striker and Jonathan David has been linked with them ever since the summer.

The Canadian international has struggled a bit this season, currently on six goals in the league, and Milan are hoping that a discount can be obtained. However, everything will depend on the competition in the summer.

In an interview with Telefoot, the striker himself was asked about the links with Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid: “When you’re young, these are the clubs you watch and think about. It’s flattering, I appreciate that,” David responded.

In addition to David, Milan are also monitoring the likes of Benjamin Sesko of Leipzig and Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna. A lot can change in the upcoming months, in other words, and the future of Stefano Pioli must also be decided.

  1. I reckon this one is the most likely to be bought by Milan in the summer, though he certainly lacks the quality against top teams. His goals consist mostly of penalties and easy goals against weak teams.

  2. I saw highlights from 2023 and all I saw was 3 panelties and some eye catching goals + 2 goals looked like zirkzee esque goal so for me he is good 👍 good replacement for giroud. But maybe one more just for more height but overall he will improve the attack 💯
PS. To inter fan you probably saw penalty highlights not for a whole season so gtfo

    1. I have seen all the goals of the last season and also a few from the current one. If he were so good he would have already been taken by some Premier League team, as he has been in the news for a few years now. He, Balogun and Wahi are some of Ligue 1 players who have been linked with this and that club but their performances have not been enough convincing. Regarding the “gtfo”, I like to comment and will comment. Neither I am insulting anyone nor trolling: just giving my opinion. If you do not like what I say, your problem not mine.

      1. An Inter fan wishes milan would sign better players than a Milan fan does. How about that.
Totally agree with you on David, Balogun and Wahi.
David is nothing more than a penalty merchant. He is the only known player left from the Lille title team. If he was good someone would have bought him already.
If Balogun was good, Arsenal would have kept him instead of selling him to Monaco. Arsenal doesn’t even have good strikers in their squad and still had no problems letting him go.
        Wahi is just a weirdo.

  3. I look at the comments here after every newspaper article about the possible reinforcement of Milan in the summer, and so far, I have not seen almost any opinion about any player that the media writes about that everyone agrees on ! Everyone has to say at least something that is wrong or is positive, why the player in question should be brought in or avoided ! I’m trying to imagine how stressful it must be when Moncada and the team, or Pioli with headquarters, need to decide on whom to spend 30 or 40 million other people’s euros, for which you have to answer with your job tomorrow!
