AC Milan could reinforce the squad with a striker already in January, following the disappointing performances of Luka Jovic. According to a report, they are preparing a concrete attempt for Montpellier Akor Adams.
Olivier Giroud is currently serving a two-game suspension and Noah Okafor is recovering from an injury. As a result, Jovic will be the starting striker against Fiorentina tonight. The Serbian is yet to score a goal for the Rossoneri, prompting the management to look for a January option.
As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan are increasingly determined to make a move for Akor Adams. Montpellier have slapped a price tag of €15m on the Nigerian, but there is room for negotiating and this is encouraging for the Rossoneri.
Adams has scored seven goals in eleven league appearances for the French side this season, having arrived from the Norwegian side Lillestrøm in the summer. He could thus go from Eliteserien to Serie A and Milan in just six months, which would be impressive.
In the meantime, Stefano Pioli is relying on Jovic to find form again and tonight, he will also have the 15-year-old Francesco Camarda on the bench. It remains to be seen if the youngster will get an appearance off the bench.
What’s the point if he’s probably going to be off to the AFCON?
Fair point on AFCON absence but it’s like 3-4 weeks. We will still have Okafor/ Giroud / Jovic for that period.
It’s whether Adams can settle quickly for the 2nd half of the season, and even be productive for the next 3 years… that I don’t know. Apart from some YouTube highlights I really have no idea if he’s the answer to our problem.
Nigeria has osimhen , boniface and terem moffi as strikers he is not likely to be picked anyway
Osi is something injured, i think. But he will be back for Africa. Adams is in better form than moffi so I doubt they’ll pick moffi over adams..boni is a no brainer for the selector
I know nothing of this player but a google search suggests he’s a total wild card, young and virtually no top league experience aside from the last two months, but promising stats. I’d rather see a move like this happen over the summer. I think January resources should be utilized to bring in players who provide an obvious upgrade to a position group rather than players with upside who may need a season or so to develop.
Find some Italians, please.
