A moment of madness from Luka Jovic in the second half of the defeat to Monza not only put the game at risk but will also likely see him suspended for more than one game.
Things went from bad to worse for the Rossoneri after they went in 2-0 down at the interval against Monza as Jovic was given his marching orders just five minutes into the second half.
After earlier clashing with Izzo, the two came together again off the ball and the Serbian seemed to slap the defender, resulting in a red card after a VAR review.
Milan would somehow end up getting themselves back level thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, but then Bondo and Pulisic struck late to ensure the points stayed in Monza.
As MilanNews reports, Jovic is likely to face more than a one-game ban for his moment of madness too as per Article 38 of the Code of Sports Justice.
“A minimum sanction shall be imposed on footballers responsible for violent conduct towards players or other people present, committed on the occasion of or during the match, without prejudice to the application of mitigating or aggravating circumstances a three-match or fixed-term disqualification. In the event of particular seriousness of the violent conduct, a five-match or fixed-term disqualification is imposed on the player.”
While waiting for the Sporting Judge’s statement at the beginning of the week, the situation already seems well defined: Jovic will most likely receive a three-match ban.
You can be Ibra and slap someone but you back it up with hard results. Solid, dangerous.
Sorry, Jovic just isn’t Ibra and he has nothing to back him up.
He deserves to be benched for ten matches straight
Bit over the top there, buddy
Well the guy pushed him first, so that should be taken in consideration as well. He shouldn’t have reacted that way but sometimes emotions get in the way.
There’s always pushing on the pitch. No need to b*tch-slap though. No excuses.
Tops.
Now we have 38yo Oli shouldering the load again. We should use Oakfor or Puli as false 9.
I really did not see the incident, but just the replay. It does not seem like the slap was intentional. The Monza player shoves him first and he just reacts to it, just catching his face (as he was turning the other side). There was no intent seen in the replay! Why was it a red?
Can’t say I’m surprised. There was a reason nobody wanted this guy and we picked him up for FREE. Because he scored a few tap in goals and a few goals in Coppa Italia some ppl were ready to anoint this guy as our new starting #9 LOL. Just shows he cannot be trusted. Yes every player has moments of uncontrolled emotion but this was bizarre. At best he is a BENCH player to come on for 20min in a 2 striker system. Hardly the man we need to lead the line as the lone striker.
One of the softest reds ever given, but I guess we have to expect this from Serie A refs at this point. Just card happy clowns who can’t take the slightest criticism
this
for me a red card is a complete excess here. But italian referees are so abysmal that it was not surprising
It looked like a ”get off me” kind of reaction. Not a ”I’m gonna kill you” reaction. It was pretty unlucky that it hit like it did I think. But stupid nonetheless as the ref had talked to them 20 seconds earlier about cooling down. I guess that played into the red also. But I should be a 3 game ban according to the rules…
And like Joro says. Jovic can’t play as the lone striker. Almost all his goals has come when playing together with Giroud. He can stay as a super sub but we need a new back up for Giroud. He just isn’t capale of that role.
Glup ko stup!Sahranio vlastitu ekipu kod 0-2?!?! Brain damage!
Also, Ibra WTF are you doing? Your dressing room is full of little kids.
PIOLI OUT …..his time is up ….. thanks for scudetto two years back but please shoo him away … poor, unimaginative, dull, weak, unsure, makes bad choices …..
Let us be all very honest – IS IT FUN WATCHING MILAN PLAY? Surely not … passing the ball sideways, back, again to the side, back again …ALL VERY BORING AND DULL .. SURELY NOT NICE TO WATCH.
Again being very honest – with no real striker in front besides pensioner Giroud, not much can be expected …
Also let’s sell leao straightaway for €170 million and not one euro less. Did he do anything right last night?
