MN: Kjaer’s condition improves with involvement against Rennes possible

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer appears to be in better physical shape than first expected and he could have a role to play for the Rossoneri against Stade Rennes on Thursday night.

As has been reported from Milanello by Milan News, the Danish defender is not in as much pain from the slight muscle issue he picked up against Napoli in Sunday night’s 1-0 Serie A win.

He is going to be assessed further on Wednesday to try and determine whether he is going to be fit enough to start the game or not, which is a Europa League knockout round playoff match.

Considering there are already so many defenders out injured for Milan, it would be a real blow to not have Kjaer available and would certainly result in Theo Hernandez having to be played at centre-back again.

That in turn would mean that someone else has to play left-back. With Alessandro Florenzi needed on the right to deputise for the injured Davide Calabria, the job would likely fall to Filippo Terracciano.

If Kjaer is able to train in the group on Wednesday, then he may well be fit enough to start the first leg at San Siro and partner Matteo Gabbia.
