AC Milan have officially confirmed that Marco Pellegrino has joined Salernitana on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Pellegrino arrived at Milan during the 2023 summer transfer window from Club Atletico Platense but he struggled for playing time in the first few months.
Then, when his time arrived due to the injury crisis at centre-back, he came off the bench during the away game against Napoli and broke his foot which meant he needed two months out.
Through a statement on the official website, Milan announced that Pellegrino has headed to US Salernitana on a loan deal until 30 June 2024.
He will help the Arechi club in the second half of the season in their fight against relegation given that they are currently bottom of Serie A.
A number of different clubs were linked with a move for the Argentine during the past few weeks, both domestically and abroad.
It seems the Milan management preferred the idea of a move to Salernitana because of the guaranteed playing time which will help him adapt to Serie A.
With Malick Thiaw due back in a couple of weeks, then Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori before the end of March, Pellegrino risked slipping further down the pecking order.
