AC Milan are working on a number of different options for the centre-back position and it seems that the focus at the moment is on Premier League targets.
According to Sky, the management want to give Pioli another central defender after Matteo Gabbia’s early return and they are looking to England after their attempts to sign Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno did not get very far.
The Rossoneri are hoping for a loan to see them through until the end of the season, with three names standing out at the moment: Clement Lenglet, Jakub Kiwior and Trevoh Chalobah.
Lenglet is a difficult target to sign because he is owned by Barcelona but on loan at Aston Villa. It will not be easy to convince the Midlands club, because the Frenchman has played the last four games as a starter after being a reserve.
Kiwior of Arsenal is liked because he was formerly at Spezia and therefore already knows the Italian league well, while Chalobah of Chelsea is a profile they have been keen on in the past and who hasn’t played much this year due to various physical problems.
An attempt was also made for Caglar Soyuncu, who was also sought by Roma, but he has chosen to go to join up with Rade Krunic, Leonardo Bonucci and Edin Dzeko’s Fenerbahce.
All of these supposed options aren’t really options they aren’t good players so why would anyone sign them ? For crying out loud
Buongiorno or no one at all.
Agree
I see Milan is following it’s usual traditions.
We claim we’re going to sign a top player, big money transfer. The negotiation fails because Milan offers about 1/2 of what other clubs are offering.
That top players moves elsewhere. Milan moves on to the Messias’ of the world and then try to claim he’s the new Messi.
After a few years, the Messias’ type player is sold because they performed poorly and didn’t achieve starters numbers. Then we start the cycle ALL OVER AGAIN!
Example: We’re doing it again with Zirkzee. We can’t sign a top forward, so we’re left shopping in the bargain bin. Moneyball Moncada will sign Zirkzee, hoping he’s the next Haaland. He won’t be. He’ll do poorly and we’ll sell him in a few years and restart the cycle.
No sh*t sherlock. Anyone can see what the problem is here.
we dont have the money to buy top players. that’s a fact. FFP and the deal we made with UEFA does not allow us to spend big, even if we want to. Also spending is based on how much you generate. In any case, You say it’s the bargain bin, i think their thought is more like BVB, Porto or Benfica.
Why sign mediocre players permanently instead of on loan when the goal is to provide temporary depth?
Unless we are planning to sell one of the currently injured defenders (Kalulu, Thiaw or Tomori) this makes no sense as we won’t have space even on the bench for everyone.
Bring chelobah. We have good history with Chelsea players. He is a strong defender that mostly able to play 30+ games a season.
And he played as defensive midfielder a position we don’t have any good option at
