AC Milan secured three crucial points in their game against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening and thus increased their chances of reaching the UCL Round of 16. Taking a look at the standings, the situation is a lot better than before the round
The win against the French side brought Stefano Pioli’s men back into the race and now they have everything in their own hands. With two wins from the final two games, they would reach the Round of 16, but there are also a few other options.
Taking a look at the standings in Group F, also labelled as the ‘group of the death’, only three points separate fourth from first, meaning a lot can still happen. For Milan, at least one win will be needed to make it through.
➤ Borussia Dortmund: 7 points
➤ PSG: 6 points
➤ AC Milan: 5 points
➤ Newcastle: 4 points
In the next round, Milan will take on Borussia Dortmund while PSG will face Newcastle at home. A win against the German side, as well as a win (or at least a draw) for PSG, would be the ideal outcome for the Rossoneri. Then, the group would look as follows ahead of the final round:
➤ PSG: 9 points
➤ AC Milan: 8 points
➤ Borussia Dortmund: 7 points
➤ Newcastle: 4 points
In the final round, taking on Newcastle, Milan would then have to match the result of Dortmund (who will face PSG) to secure qualification. But in broader terms: Milan more or less need to win the game against Dortmund, while a draw could be enough against Newcastle.
Basically each team has their destiny in their own hands for the last two games. Any team to pick up two wins would go through to the next round regardless of position.
We should just win our our last two games and then dortmund beating psg that way both psg and newcastle utd can eat dust.
That was my prediction before group stage started. Imagine if that happens, 2 clubs with good history and European heritage eliminating plastic oil clubs (Maybe not Newcastle).
Doki it was always my hope as well, lets hope it happens it would be maliciously delightful to see them both bow out of the tournament 😀
The game vs Dortmund is the absolute key. We win and we nearly qualify, we loose and we are completely out (probably 4th). A draw would mean probably 3rd place.
If we lose against PSG AND PSG beats Newcastle then we’re 100% out of the CL. But, If we lose and PSG fails to win against Newcastle, we still have a chance to qualify, but we’d have to beat Newcastle, and Dortmund would have to beat PSG if PSG and Newcastle draw, or draw with PSG if Newcastle beats PSG. So that’s two outs .
If we draw with Dortmund, we have a few more outs regardless of the PSG v. Newcastle result.
If we beat Dortmund, the best result for us in the PSG v. Newcastle game would be a draw or a Newcastle win. In that scenario all we would need is a draw against Newcastle regardless of the result in PSG v. Dortmund. I think.
There is a scenario in which all four teams end up with 8 points, which would be nuts.
Its simple. WIN OUT. That’s it. And we’re through. We have to use the win against PSG as a catalyst to regalvanize the team and get the season back on track. Play the remainder of the games like its PSG again and let’s move on.
FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴
No more depend on other result please, just grab that 6 points and came top of the group. FORZA MILAN
We could get 2nd even if we draw with Dortmund – as long as we beat Newcastle away while PSG wins both their games.
1) PSG 12pts
2) Ac Milan 9pts
3) Dortmund 8pts
4) Newcastle 4pts
But best case scenario is that we beat Dortmund home (NO MORE UDINESE PERFORMANCE!)
My MILAN I know,it is always difficult to kick Milan out of champions league preliminaries.no matter how strong the group may look like
Dortmund beat new castle twice.. while milan draw with new castle in sansiro.. so literally dortmund is stronger than new castle.. milan beat psg because milan were beaten by udinese before..
There’s this weird possibility of all the teams being on 8 points at the end
Milan beats Dortmund
PSG draws Newcastle
Milan 8
Dortmund 7
PSG 7
Newcastle 5
Newcastle beats Milan
PSG draws Dortmund
Milan 8
Dortmund 8
PSG 8
Newcastle 8
It will be epic
