AC Milan’s rising star Francesco Camarda spoke about the emotions of making his debut at San Siro, as well as the pressures that he is currently feeling.
Camarda went viral last year when a report revealed that he had scored over 500 goals for various different age groups within the Milan youth sector.
He drew more attention after his record-breaking debut in Serie A – after becoming the youngest ever player to play in the league – his goal at the weekend has done the rounds after an incredible mid-air first touch and dink over the keeper.
During the 3-1 victory for Milan Primavera away from home against Cagliari, Camarda netted to make it 3-0 with a ridiculous first touch and an incredibly composed dink over the goalkeeper.
Camarda spoke at the Milano Goal City Challenge event, on the occasion of the 30-year anniversary of the Adidas Predator boot, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
How are you feeling right now?
“I don’t even think about this stuff, also because I think that if you want to be a footballer you have to get used to certain types of people and pressures.”
How was your debut at San Siro?
“It was something I’d dreamed of since I was a child. It gave me goosebumps. It was a great satisfaction.”
Camarda was joined at the event by Italian football legend Alessandro Del Piero, someone who knows what it takes to make the most of potential having competed at the very top for over a decade.
Do you see some similarities at your age between yourself and Camarda?
“Not much because I was much shorter (laughs). I saw many goals that he scored, I saw with great pleasure that he had already made his debut in the first team and these are the things that make us have something in common.
“He will have his own path. We live in a very different football world compared to when I was his age, but football is a wonderful game. He is doing great things and must obviously always aspire for more, knowing that everything happens on a daily basis.
“Sometimes it’s beautiful, sometimes it’s difficult, but you have to know how to overcome these difficulties but also the positive moments, which are sometimes the ones that hurt the most.”
De Piero is the second highest all-time Italian top-scorer in all competitions with 346 goals, behind only Silvio Piola. At Juventus he won six Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia, four Supercoppa Italiana titles, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Intertoto Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup.
For Me Next Year Milan Should either offer Jovic Contract or someone else and Have Camarda as a back up. And maybe Colombo too
At 15 years of age, he needs minutes to develop. Makes absolutely no sense to have him as a back-up at this stage.
Just Check Evan Ferguson from Brighton
He is 19 years old and last season only made 18 appearances. If anything, that proves the point that he needs to play consistently.
You are destroying his career this way. He should play for Milan Serie c youth club next season and only when he proven himself then can he progress to a higher competition.
He’s just 15!!! Let the kid grow in peace & quiet ffs! He might have scored 500+ goals in the underage level doesn’t translate to him scoring in Serie A. At this age he’ll most likely get broken physically & mentally than him tearing it up.
Heck, he isn’t even tearing it up at the Primavera level.
I know we all want him to succeed with us but it might not happen at the fast pace almost everyone is expecting. For every mbappe, there are 1000s of Machedas.
Camarda has no business being in any event involving a legend of the sport – he’s done nothing yet. It’s not like goals are raining in for him right now either.
