AC Milan’s next league game is against Monza and that means they could face one of their own in Lorenzo Colombo, but his future is something that must be decided.
Calciomercato.com write how Colombo has struggled in recent weeks having not scored since November, and even yesterday’s lacklustre 0-0 draw against Verona he didn’t fully exploit the opportunity that Raffaele Palladino gave him from minute one.
With the arrival of Milan Djuric from Verona his potential playing time has been reduced and this could continue to be the situation, something that seemed hard to imagine when he scored three goals in his first 11 league games.
It was thought at that point that the Primavera graduate was growing and that he could play for a spot in the side at Milan next summer, but instead he has fallen away.
Milan are looking for a new striker but are turning towards more ready profiles, such as Joshua Zirkzee who is the prototype of the modern striker and seems more of a fit for the Rossoneri’s style of football.
There is also talk of Benjamin Sesko, a powerful and physically strong centre-forward now playing for RB Leipzig. It certainly won’t be easy to buy them given the high asking price that the two clubs have rightly set.
Then there are the renewal situations of Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic. The possibility remains that one or both could stay, and that would mean very little space for Colombo.
Colombo could therefore become a bargaining chip in the purchase of other players, even in other areas of the pitch, allowing the Rossoneri to lower the cash sum needed to sign targets as seen with the offers for Alessandro Buongiorno.
Overhyped mid player
Yeesh, I guess he’s turning into another overrated Italian player…
Maybe this loaning to other clubs to develop doesn’t work?
Gabbia worked out ok. Its not easy to break into a top 20 side on the world.
Colombo was never good enough.
Colombo, Lazetic, Nasti, Maldini, Alesi who’s next? Camarda? our ex-Primavera strikers become joke in quality.
hire Inzaghi as u23 manager, he has good track with youngsters!
