The Sandro Tonali saga continues to rumble on and a report has claimed that Newcastle United have threatened to sue AC Milan.
According to what is being reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), Newcastle yesterday threatened Milan with a multimillion-euro lawsuit over the Tonali case, clearly believing that they knew something about it.
Tonali is believed to have been handed a 10-month suspension for having broken regulations regarding betting on Milan games as a player. The Rossoneri, for their part, have always denied any knowledge he was going so.
Nonetheless, the paper claim that Newcastle are threatening legal action against Milan having paid €70m to sign the midfielder during the summer, a player they will now not be able to use again until well into 2024.
Not only that, but the Magpies are going to suspend payment of Tonali’s €8m net per season salary, unlike Juve who supported Nicolo Fagioli after his ban by continuing to pay his salary in full and allowing him to keep training with the first team.
They can flush water for Saudi arabia
Haha, try it. They think they can threaten us with empty claims.
Yeah good luck buddy…
But he play over the weekend for Newcastle
The verdict hasn’t been brought yet. Until that happens he’s free to play
I haven’t dug massively deep but can’t find any details about what the ‘threat’ actually was, in either English or Italian, so I suspect it was some PR platitude about “considering all legal options” or something.
I mean, what would they want? He’s still their player for the next 5 years. They have a huge burden of proof; it would be a very lengthy case followed by appeals – likely years, for what, a discount?
They can suck us
Elliot Lawyers: let’s try buddy
Next match with them will be very interesting one to see
They literally didn’t threaten anyone, just said they will explore all of the available options, like any business would. Also, if you are going to sue someone, you don’t threaten him like a 11 year old, but you do it.
Stupid article by Corriere dello Sport.
Why stop paying him? Because he’s not English.
This is not nice at all.
Will he also ne restricted from training with his teammates?
“The Rossoneri, for their part, have always denied any knowledge he was going so.”
This is not true Oli. I haven’t seen communication from Milan yet officially denying they knew anything. Even in Furlani’s latest interview all he said was that he was sad to read about the things concerning Tonali…he never said they didn’t know. And no one has really come out to say either story.. It really smells fishy but they are playing it smartly in the event that they knew.. it think they’re waiting to see what sort of information can come out or Eventually comes out and if they can plausibly deny that they knew. Knowing that Tonali was betting and being able to prove that they knew might be difficult for Newcastle to do especially if they knew from verbal conversations rather through digital mediums where you can trace.
If Newcastle brings them to court they will have to compell themselves one way or the other to a particular truth. If they lie that they didn’t know and can be proven so, they can face serious consequences. They could of course not know about the whole thing in which case they’re clean.
But this thing can get murky quickly
There has been no official statement, but what has filtered from the club to media circles is that they had no knowledge.
Ok I see.
From what I’ve heard from “word on the street” sources sort of thing, it seems the opposite. But I don’t trust any of that too. Tbh I find it fascinating from a Comms perspective. They’re deliberately not making a statement so as to not incriminate themselves further down the road in the event someone did know and is not fessing up.
They’d be in absolutely deep sh*t otherwise.
There is an obligation to report matters like that.
Complete nonsense. Unless they can prove that Milan knew about it, they have no case.
Corruption isn’t a word that’s normally associated with Italian football, oh wait 🤔
