The magnitude of tonight’s game against Roma is something that should not need drilling into the AC Milan squad, but Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic left nothing to chance.
With Bologna losing to Cagliari earlier in the day and Fiorentina dropping points at home to Udinese, there is a big opportunity to not only deal a big blow to Roma but also pad the gap to fifth place.
Both the Rossoneri and the Giallorossi are coming off two bitter defeats in the Coppa Italia, and that means the pressure is on both Stefano Pioli and Jose Mourinho to deliver a result.
As reported by Milan TV (via MilanNews), both Ibrahimovic and the Milan owner Cardinale charged the team up before the warm-ups with a motivational speech in the dressing room.
Pioli has named his starting line-up for the game against Roma at San Siro, with four changes compared to the Atalanta game in midweek.
There are only three teams that Milan have played more competitive games against than Roma (Juventus, Inter and Torino).
The teams have met 196 times, with 83 wins for the Rossoneri, 62 draws and 57 victories for the capital club.
The club relayed the following: “A few moments before the kick-off of the match between AC Milan and AS Roma, Gerry Cardinale, Founder and Managing Partner of RedBird, made a point of meeting the coach, the staff and the players.
“Cardinale spent a few precious minutes in the dressing room, demonstrating his full support and close proximity to the coach and the entire team.
“He wanted to communicate to them that, although he is not always physically present in Milan, he is constantly updated and personally involved in all the Club’s activities.
“Cardinale also underlined his constant availability, showing the total commitment of the owners in supporting the Club to guarantee it development and success.”
I’m sure professional athletes are so interested in corporate speeches from a boss who doesn’t know how much trophies there are in the trophy room.
Well it worked.
Is that so? Can’t wait to win a Champions League thanks to Jerry’s speeches.
Are you here to moan or support the club?
Ah yeah, unconditional love. It has to work both ways to me, transfers all over the place, UEL and 4th place don’t mean much.
Cardinale is a clown. Hearing of a motivational speech from him is a joke.
Loool exactly. This is a trash article guys. Please do better. Your other work is good.
