Pellegatti uses James Bond analogy to explains Ibrahimovic’s return: “Like Q”

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is getting closer to returning to AC Milan, having been in advanced talks with Gerry Cardinale for weeks now. As highlighted by the well-known journalist Carlo Pellegatti, he will be like the James Bond character ‘Q’.

Ibrahimovic had a meeting with Milan owner Cardinale and it was a very positive one. Just yesterday, it was reported that the announcement for the Swede’s return is ‘imminent’. The Milan fans are following the developments with great excitement, keen on welcoming him back.

In his editorial for MilanNews today, the journalist Carlo Pellegatti discussed the return of Ibrahimovic once again. Since there have been some suggestions of Stefano Pioli being undermined, the journalist highlighted that this won’t be the case at all. To do so, he used a James Bond analogy.

“If I had to compare Ibrahimovic to a film character, I would say he’s like Q. The latter is the English intelligence officer who gives James Bond formidable equipment, cars with smoke to deceive his enemies and a lot more. I’ve never seen James Bond complain to his boss about Q, perhaps telling him ‘I don’t want Q’s advice. I want to work alone’.

“I believe that not even the Milan coach will complain to anyone. Instead, I believe Pioli – who I don’t know if he is used to sipping the Vesper Martini like Bond, shaken and not stirred – will be happy to be supported by another esteemed collaborator, a fundamental help in managing the players

“Both are bound by the same desire to see the Rossoneri colours at the top of Italian and international football. Ibrahimovic loves Milan deeply. He is tied to his fans who love him. And that’s enough for me! We left him in tears. We want to soon see his proud gaze again.

“The new ownership, last summer, had proposed a corporate role, without specific responsibilities and no clear presence. It was an underestimation, soon intelligently understood by the top man, Gerry Cardinale,” he wrote.

Milan have struggled in the last few weeks and while Ibrahimovic’s appointment could raise the mood, the Rossoneri don’t want it to be viewed as a ‘panic solution’. Ibrahimovic’s return, in fact, has been in the works for months and has nothing to do with the recent poor run of form.
