Ahead of the visit to Salernitana on Friday night, Carlo Pellegatti spoke about his expectations for the game and offered his thoughts on AC Milan’s consistent injury issues.
Milan will look to treat their fans with an early present in their final game before Christmas as they travel to Salerno to play Salernitana in Serie A. In an ideal world, the context a victory would provide would be much different, but in the current situation, the Rossoneri could further themselves from fifth-placed Napoli.
Tomorrow’s game should see the Rossoneri field their, on paper, best midfield three. However, the roles that they may play are still up in the air. Calabria will re-take his place at right-back with Stefano Pioli due to revert to a four-at-the-back formation, following his suspension.
Carlo Pellegatti spoke exclusively to RadioRossonera and offered his thoughts on the persistent injury issue facing the Rossoneri, and also spoke on Bennacer’s return to the starting side.
Ismael Bennacer set to return from the start…
“After 226 days Bennacer is back as a starter. We have to see if he will put Reijnders and Bennacer with Loftus as a number 10 (4-2-3-1) or if it will be a 4-3-3.”
“Formation confirmed, although I don’t know with what scheme. We will go back to playing with four. Another novelty will be the return of Calabria on the defensive line, allowing Pioli to return to the typical formation of the season.”
What is the reason behind Milan’s injuries?
“In my opinion, from what I understand it’s an AC Milan that doesn’t cultivate strength much.
“From my personal experience, never having strengthened the shoulder they worked other muscles and tendons. That’s why I injured my tendon,” he said.
“I remember many players in recent years who have injured their Achilles tendon, but I don’t remember so many injuries to the tendon of the muscle. If the tendon works too hard it is because it is not helped by the muscle, these are my deductions.
“Probably in the preparation, the little game prevails over the gym. Now you can’t exert strength, you risk packing the team or doing even more damage. Behind Milan’s injury situation could therefore ‘hide’ poor preparation in the summer.”
Maybe this is why many of them go to the gym on their day off 🤔
