AC Milan Women faced Pomigliano earlier today and were hoping to claim a much-needed win. Instead, however, they came away with just on point and the disappointing season made itself known again for the Rossonere.
Luca Maninetti, our correspondent at SempreMilan.it, was present at the game and broke his thoughts down on the disappointing draw. ‘A bitter point’ as he describes it, since Milan would have needed a win to help themselves in the standings. The draw, in fact, was of little use.
The race for a spot in the Scudetto play-offs is now incredibly complicated, following what was a performance full of errors. Not to mention that the Rossonere only had one shot on target against the worst defence in the league, with Pomigliano conceding 33 goals in 14 games (!).
Kosovare Asllani was not available due to a calf injury and Milan struggled in attack, with Pomigliano defending rather comfortably throughout the clash. Christy Grimshaw, meanwhile, has still not been able to live up to the high standards of last season.
In the second half, Nadia Nadim’s debut stood out, at least trying to give more quality to the attacking department (Andrea Staskova barely even touched a ball). Overall, however, this was probably the worst Rossonere we have seen since Davide Corti took over the team.
The only positive note is that the fourth clean sheet of the season arrived, having also achieved this again Como, Napoli and Sassuolo (In the Coppa Italia). Having said that, 14 points in 14 games is not enough and at least a point is needed against Sampdoria in the next game.
