Joshua Zirkzee has been one of the revelations in Serie A this season and has attracted the interest of AC Milan. In an interview that was published this morning, the striker explained the great emotions he experienced when playing at San Siro.
Zirkzee has bagged eight goals and four assists for Bologna in the league this season and it’s no surprise that Milan are keeping tabs on him. Indeed, with a new striker expected to arrive in the summer, the Dutchman is one of the primary targets.
Speaking to this week’s edition of SportWeek (see photo below), Zirkzee was asked about scoring at San Siro, impressing against both Milan and Inter. He stated that it’s the most beautiful stadium in Europe along with Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
“Playing so well at San Siro was nice, for us it was a magical place this season given that we never lost and also won. It’s a fantastic stadium, I had been there on tour with my family. It was the first stadium where I entered and immediately ‘perceived’ football. As a fan, together with the Allianz Arena in Munich, in my opinion it is the most beautiful stadium in Europe.
“It has a different aura from the others. Playing in a stadium like this, against a top team, is the best for a player: what other motivation do you need? When I played there, the child inside me got excited. All my heroes have played there at some point in their careers. Joshua as a child thought: ‘Wow, I’m at San Siro’,” he stated.
Bayern Munich have a 40% resale clause and could thus bring the 22-year-old back for a relatively low fee. However, it’s not clear whether the Germans are interested in the striker or not, but Milan will surely keep a close eye on the developments and potentially even make an attempt.
San Siro is special!
Both Rennes and Newcastle looked absolutely over whelmed by it
Milan should definitely consider going all to bring him to our team.
