A company called Webuild have come forward and expressed their willingness to renovate San Siro in a bid to keep AC Milan and Inter playing there.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the ideal situation for the City Council is that Milan and Inter stay and play at San Siro during the works and then they are able to carry on playing at a stadium that is approaching 35 years since its last big renovation.
It’s been a hectic few weeks at the City Hall, and Mayor Mayor Sala is trying to find an adequate solution. He is trying in every way to convince the Milanese club – or at least one of them – to stay at San Siro.
In fact, the San Siro renovation project developed by the Arco Associati studio and illustrated at the end of January to the council commission was born from this need. Today, however, an important piece of news has been added.
Webuild – an Italian giant in construction and civil and industrial engineering (in Milan, for example, they are building metro line 4) – has come forward and has written to the Councul of Milan and MI Stadio, making themselves available to carry out the works.
It is a letter in which Studio Arco’s project is not expressly mentioned, but which nevertheless takes up its guidelines, focusing on the fact that there would be no need to close the stadium to those who play there during the works.
In practice, Webuild says: for us this is feasible, sustainable and achievable, so we give you our availability. A communication dated yesterday, February 15th, signed by the CEO Pietro Salini and it reads as follows.
“Webuild SpA, awaiting definitive decisions regarding a possible different allocation of sporting events, expresses its willingness to collaborate in identifying methods and processes aimed at the functional and structural regeneration of the stadium for its better use in the medium term.
“This desire for collaboration with all the public and private entities involved is reiterated here and this both for the study of the technical and economic-financial as well as temporal feasibility of this regeneration intervention, and for the evaluation of the most suitable procedures for its implementation.
Then, we go into specifics with the various objectives: “Identify solutions to improve access and hospitality of the stadium. Allow its use safely, prolonging the useful life of the structure.
“Define a context of overall improvement of the architectural and of the symbolic connotation of the stadium, identifying possible updates to the plant systems and enhancing the communication aspects through the use of audio/video multimedia solutions.
“Plan an intervention that can be carried out in phases, guaranteeing the continuity of sporting events through multi-year programming that favors the summer periods and aiming to make the stadium also suitable for hosting events relating to the next Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics. Responding to the new probable indications from UEFA.
“From an initial analysis, the conditions could exist to carry out interventions compatible to a large extent with the calendar of events. Webuild is now available to start this feasibility study, also with the economic estimates and possible times and ways of realization.”
Meanwhile, again in the last few hours Sala sent an official request to Milan and Inter for an urgent meeting to understand if they will take into consideration the possibility of staying at San Siro.
Bullsh*t
No need to consider any proposal from Sala. He only want both club rent forever . Stick with san donato plan new stadium.
Why does its exterior looks like the previous Cathedral design? Looks like they just recycle it in a hurry to put unthoroughly planned project.
They waited this long to come forward knowing very well there were these discussion having or renovating to he stadium for so long? ??
