Hindsight is a beautiful thing, and the case of Charles De Ketelaere perfectly subscribes to this. His time at AC Milan was light years away from the player he is currently at Atalanta, and a report has emerged about the figures needed for him to permanently join La Dea.
When the Belgian arrived in Italy, expectations and hopes were high, given the price that was paid for him, and the hype surrounding the player in general. Unfortunately, for both the club and the player, things did not go as hoped, as he ended his debut season with no goals.
However, in Bergamo, he has become a new player, one who has scored 10 goals so far across all competitions, and he is showing the player that it was hoped he could be when he first moved to Italy.
As MilanNews write, though, Milan will not be receiving this player back at the end of his loan spell, given the option to buy in the loan agreement will almost definitely be exercised. However, the Diavolo have no regrets about this.
His initial loan fee was around €3million, with the option to buy standing at €23m – there is a further €4m in bonuses tied into the deal. The Rossoneri will have an interest in his future, though, and hope his development continues, given they have a sell-on clause of 10% in the deal.
I read that 4 million bonuses are tied to Atalanta’s CL qualification. That’s according to Longo.
Vitiello reports 4 million bonuses are split into 2 million for CL qualification and 2 million related to player’s performance.
So Milan could actually get 30 millions + 10% from future sale.

If you compare CDK at Milan and Atalanta and you wanna use different system and different position as a reason for day and night difference in performance and production it makes sense, but using too much pressure at Milan is just lazy.
It’s not like he spent 3 years at Milan underpeforming, and then he moves over to a smaller club and starts performing under less pressure. He only played 1 year, out of position under a coach with very rigid tactics.
Was the pressure too much for Tonali in his 1st season at Milan. He was also bad. Why do you think that his initial transfer fee and salary had to be renegotiated. Tonali got a 2nd year, CDK didn’t.
Not to mention that CDK gets to play regularly at Atalanta.
So far he has played 1631 minutes for Atalanta this year with a 3rd of the season still left. He played a total of 1480 minutes at Milan.
At least Milan will get most of their money back unlike in the Piatek and Paqueta cases.
It is different era of Milan, when players like Leao, Tonali, Bennacer, Kalulu get more chances, despite pitch performance back than, and a year ago, and near future.
In last 2 season Milan gain much more revenue than before, and connection is – pitch performance. So today and near future Milan needs players who can do much more in play, as soon as possible compared to couple years ago.
The bottomline here is, coach with rigid tactic. I couldn’t agree more. Clearly we can see that Pioli most influential player is Kessie. So far we couldn’t replace him yet, we tried to strenghten other area but Kessie’s place is leaving a huge hole for a coach with rigid tactic. With Kessie around, even with Messias or Saelemakers on the right, then subpar Brahim Diaz, we still can salvage a point.

People somehow manage to over-estimate players’ abilities and under-estimate what it takes to play for a top club. Or else they just love transfers.
