Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui is the latest name to be linked with AC Milan as the replacement for Stefano Pioli, a situation that the current coach is likely very tired of.
As reported by Tuttosport (as seen below), Lopetegui joins names such as Antonio Conte, Thiago Motta, Francesco Farioli and more. Considering it is not certain that Pioli will be leaving the club during or at the end of this season, the links with other coaches are near-constant.
Milan have reportedly taken a close look at Lopetegui and his credentials, but there has been no serious movement towards any new coach.
There is a lot to still see this season, such as how close Milan can get to Inter and Juventus at the top of Serie A, and whether a trophy can be delivered in the form of the Europa League.
Even Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has admitted that he is tired of hearing about who the new Milan coach will be, so Pioli must find it all incredibly tedious.
Lopetegui’s most recent role was at Wolves in the Premier League, but he has previously coached Spain, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Porto.
He is a big name, but some fans would prefer an even bigger name with more winning pedigree.
Twitter fans will tell you that he sucks but Motta best manager ever because no one has ever taken a club like Bologna in Europe right? Udinese of 2010 dont exist
What is the added value with lopetegui ? He has been fired with real, wolves. Woww how can it be this man for pioli replacement. He even havently yet campion with his team…
so how can Motta be champion here? Because the media loves him?
Think about that for a minute, that was my whole point
There’s been plenty of managers who managed to get high league positions with smaller clubs, its not that uncommon
Just waiting for “If this failure is an considered an option, we’re better of sticking with Pioli.”.
Btw this is probably the very reason Pioli’s PR is bringing Lopetegui up.
Ever heard Cosmin Contra, ex our player who’s now a coach
Fake news. There are way better options available even if Milan want to go for a low cost option like Oliver Glasner who is available for a free.
yeah that 37% win % will surely win Milan a lot of titles
