Tuttosport: A winner with Chelsea – Milan can dote on midfielder’s UEL experience

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan are blessed with a range of talent within their squad, and with that comes some experience of competing at the latter stages of the best competitions in the world. A report has suggested that the Rossoneri should ask one of their players for the blueprint of European success.

There is much to consider when looking at European success, and there has to be a perfect mix of tactical and technical quality. Milan have plenty of quality in their squad, but doing well in Europe requires much more.

As Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) writes, the Rossoneri can rely on Ruben Loftus-Cheek to help the side progress in this competition. The midfielder played a significant part in Chelsea’s Europa League success in the 2018-19 season, and whilst he missed the final through injury, his significance up until that point cannot be forgotten.

He scored four times in the run to the final, notably a hat-trick in the group stage against Bate Borisov. Additionally, he assisted three times, making himself one of Chelsea’s and the tournament’s stand-out performers.

The Europa League has eluded the Diavolo so far, and they will look to win it for the first time this season – looking to Loftus-Cheek for advice could be the key. With significant financial aid available through success in the competition, a route deep into the tournament will be demanded.

  1. Cuz he helped us so much during the group stages of the UCL this year? The press about RLC is wildly delusional. The way Pioli is using RLC creates a gravity well in our team and not even light can escape it. Pretending like he’s an asset in that position is insane. He needs to play from the midfield and never play CAM ever again. I appreciate the defensive recovery the team has made by going back to the tactics from the Scudetto season and even at the expense of Pulisic’s production, it’s fine for now but let’s not pretend like RLC is going to go Kaka mode and win us a tournament or do half that much. I would love to be wrong, but I don’t see it. We will end up depending on the usual suspects and if they perform we could win the whole thing. Forza Milan.

    1. Kaka mode was sick
07 he singlehandedly won us that game in ET against Celtic. Those were some crazy runs.
The credit to RLC when he has an above average game is incredible
